Why I Joined the Clever Girls “Being Fierce” Campaign
The Clever Girls network is promoting a Being Fierce campaign that encourages women to talk about a time in their life when they found they had to step up and be fierce. I had a chance to interview Sheila Bernus Dowd, one of the cofounders of Clever Girls, about the time she had to be fierce and strong when battling breast cancer. Musings :: Reconnecting with the Child Within
My husband and I have wanted to find a team sport that our daughter could play so she could learn about team camaraderie. We were fortunate to get on a soccer team for girls seven and under and she had her first practice and game this past week. My husband was quite the athlete and enjoyed playing sports throughout his childhood and into college so his competitive drive is pretty prevalent in any type of competition. His college buddies play a yearly golf tournament that they all go into like they are competing in The Masters. It was a year ago this month that Allison, my amazing web designer and I were working hard to make my dream of creating an online community for women to share their dreams and aspirations and inspire women to go after their dreams. When I think back to the main things I learned from my mother, they had more to do with an overall feeling than actual words of wisdom, though there were a couple that still run through my head! It was a way of being in the world as a woman and what it meant to create your own path. My mother was very driven to make things happen – whatever that might be at the moment. Yesterday, I took my daughter out of kindergarten early and headed to Knott’s Berry Farm. Lately, I have been feeling like time is just going by too quickly and she is growing up right before my eyes.
