Come Celebrate Penelope’s 3rd Birthday with Us!
It seems like yesterday when I received the email from Lynette Mattke of PicPocket Books and said that they were interested in my children’s picture book, Penelope the Purple Pirate, and would like to make it into an app available on their platform. I was so excited because my dream of creating a children’s picture book and storybook app was finally coming true! You can read more about my journey of becoming a children’s picture book writer in a post I wrote for Moms With Apps. It has been three years since the storybook app became available as an iPad, iPhone and iPod app in iTunes and we wanted to have a little celebration. But at this…

Jewelry for Your Health: Not Only a Fashion Statement
Image courtesy of Flickr Gems are usually seen as aspects of beautiful pieces of ornamental jewelry that adorn lucky men and women. Gems are pleasing to the eye and have thus been worn by a countless number of people over the years, but also have other uses not so commonly attributed. Gems and some other precious elements have also been used for thousands of years as healing stones to treat several types of physical and mental ailments. Those who take advantage of gems in this way believe that the energy that was necessary to craft the stone out of the Earth’s natural elements is embodied in the gem. Some…

Tech :: CordCruncher Earbud Headphones
I recently had the opportunity to try out a pair of CordCruncher Earbud Headphones (the moniker being they “do not TANGLE”)! I have never been so excited in my life about ear bud headphones. I am the world’s worst and I strongly animate the word WORST when it comes to getting cords for my headphones into a tangled mess – a hot tangled mess I should add. When my *pink* CordCruncher Earbud Headphones arrived I had this huge smile on my face. It was like someone had just given me tickets to a theme-park with a gift card! I pulled them out of their easy packaging and my daughter stopped…

Adorable DIY Valentine’s Day Gifts
The following Valentine’s Day gifts are ones you can make with the kids to hand out to family members (most everyone loves home-made gifts), neighbors, teachers, friends and your significant other. I love involving my daughter when making holiday gifts and might have to try out a couple of these fun ideas. Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day! A Succulent Valentine: I absolutely love succulents! And they make wonderful gifts! This is a fun idea from A Night Owl Blog that is really easy to make. Though according to Feng Shui principles – it is best to avoid cacti in the house or garden. Plus little fingers might get hurt. For…

Our Rocky Mountain Family Adventure: Part I
Looking to send a postcard with a spectacular mountain range, a glacier, or wild animals on it? Then the town of Jasper, located in the heart of Canada’s Rocky Mountains, is the destination for you. Last summer we flew into Calgary and stuffed as much luggage as is humanly possible into a rental car. We strapped three children (aged 14, 10, and 8) in the back seat and headed northwest—256 miles to be exact. The drive along the way was an adventure in itself. Our first stop was in Banff, Canada’s first National Park and UNESCO World Heritage Site. While we were there, we took in the breathtaking sites of…
