In the Spotlight :: Kathy Kinney of Mrs.P Be-a-Famous Writer Contest
This is my third year supporting the Mrs. P Be-A-Famous-Writer Contest that children across the country can enter for a chance to have their winning story beautifully illustrated and published into a real-live book! Promoting a love of reading and writing is one of my passions because books have been such a part of my life. There are so many magical worlds just ready to draw you in – you just pick up the book and read it. Think about your own favorite book as a child and think about why it was your favorite childhood book. I loved Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O’Dell and would daydream about…

Recipes :: 5 Easy Summer Treats
Nothing says summer quite like eating fresh watermelon at the pool or beach. As kids, my younger brother and I would sit outside our front porch and go through a whole watermelon between the two of us! You have probably heard about Lycopene as it is a carotenoid phytonutrient important for cardiovascular health. This week I found some healthy fruit treats that you can feel good about serving to your kids and not have to worry about grumpy sugar crashes. You can even get the kids involved to…

Fashion :: Maxi Dresses for Summer
Summer is in full swing and temperatures are rising all across the country. One of the easiest things to throw on is a maxi dress as they are the essence of comfort and style. This time of year is also a great time to shop for summer items as most retailers are having sales to clear out for fall. I often would scratch my head about this while working in the fashion industry all those years. Who can think about a sweater right now? Not me, but that is the way it works. Never the less, I am happy about a sale on summer clothes since we will be wearing…

Instagram of the Week :: Enjoying the Moments
One of this weeks Momism of the Day really hit home with me. “We do not remember days; we remember moments,” by Cesare Pavese (1908-1950); who was a Poet and a Novelist. Life is so much about enjoying the moments that make up your life. It is so true isn’t it? That when we think back to our own childhood, we remember moments or snippets of time and hopefully most of them are good memories. Lately, I have been thinking about what types of moments do I want my daughter to remember once she is grown. Though I can’t control what she does look back on with fondness when she’s…
