Important Life Skills Kids (and Parents!) Learn While Traveling – Part 1
The initial motivations for my family’s around-the-world journey were that it would be an amazing chance to spend time together as a family and a great education for our kids. Yet, I could have never predicted all the invaluable life skills they would be learning along the way! Traveling has been, and continues to be, the best way to teach our children about life and about themselves – with new opportunities to learn everyday. National Poetry Month: Online Poetry Resources
Celebrate National Poetry Month! April is National Poetry Month and most classrooms will spend some time exploring poetic expression in one form or another. The Book App Alliance was created by leading authors who create interactive books for kids. We have found that many parents and teachers are confused about digital books (eBook vs. book app), how to use them, and how to go about finding hidden gems in the App Store. The…

Parenting :: Is it Ever Okay to Lie?
In our family we call my daughter’s little white lies “Kate’s Tall Tales” a take on Mater’s Tall Tales! Sometimes I have to admit that I think her stories are a little funny and figure she is using her imagination. But then there are other times when her “tales” could do some harm to others in that I might have to talk to another parent about it. In these situations I will sit down with her about whether this is a “tall tale” or did it really happen. You know, the stories that kids come up with! So I am wondering on our journey as parents how do we go about explaining the…
