Project Kindness :: Homelessness in America
Recently, I have been driving into Los Angeles a few times a month for work. When I am driving through Beverly Hills (ooh la la) or Downtown Los Angeles, I see several homeless people standing near the embankment before the freeway entrance asking for help. Since I am notorious for never carrying cash on me, I always feel bad that I don’t have anything to give them. I have spoken with my daughter about how we don’t know what they have had to face or overcome in their lives, so it is best to help them whenever we can. She is so sweet and seems to understand the concept of giving back as she will always…

Project Kindness :: Bailey Believes – Donate Life
It never ceases to amaze me what an act of kindness can do for another human being. Whether it is a small act such as treating the stranger behind you to a cup of coffee at your local coffee shop to something literally life-saving like the story I am sharing with you today. Jessica DeDio’s son Bailey has Cystinosis. Bailey’s kidneys were failing and the family was using social media as a way to alert friends about Bailey’s urgent need for a transplant, specifically through…

Giving birth can be such an amazing experience but imagine if you were unable to have access to a hospital! My pregnancy went really well (minus the 50 pounds I gained) and I had assumed my delivery would be without complications as well. Boy, was I in for a surprise! In the summer of 2006 on July 28th I was admitted into the hospital at 8:40 pm and within a half hour I was on the table having an emergency C-section due to a torn Placentia (how does that happened?). Yes, it was very dramatic and my little Kate had to stay in the NICU for 4 days for monitoring. I completely understand…

“The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights” Gloria Steinem Today (March 8th) is International Women’s Day where people around the world celebrate the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. (Source: International Women’s Day website). Emma Watson was named a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador earlier this year, and is working with the HeForShe campaign which aims to enable men to identify with the issues of gender equality and to recognize the crucial role that they can play to end the global persisting inequality faced by women and girls, both in…

Dandelion Moms Project Kindness :: Helping End Poverty and Hunger with Heifer International
Image courtesy of goatshowdoc It is so exciting to have the holiday season upon us, and for many families this is a time filled with festivity and fun. Unfortunately, for the more than 800 million people in the world that go to bed hungry every night, this time of year isn’t filled with the joy that it should be. Together we can change that, by giving a gift this holiday that can make a meaningful difference for a family in need. Heifer International is a nonprofit community development organization dedicated to helping end hunger and poverty while working to protect the environment and care for the Earth. Since 1944,…
