We were inspired to create the dandelion moms project kindness after watching a video from one of my favorite children’s authors Amy Krouse Rosenthal and her Beckoning of Lovely project. We can always use more loveliness and kindness sent out into the world so we created the dandelion moms project kindness where we feature grass-roots organizations and people who are doing great things and could use some help. One month the dandelion moms community helped to create a much-needed library in the Dominican Republic and sent over 150 books that will be used the local townspeople in their new library. Last year my daughter played soccer through a really great program called Soccer Shots. I liked that at 5 years of age she was learning the basics of soccer set in a fun environment. There was a lot of focus on character building and on how we treat others as part of the program. I met the founder of Soccer Shots, JoBen, at one of the practices and we started talking about his organization and the important work they are doing with his nonprofit Beyond Boundaries Academy. What IS dandelion moms project kindness? We created dandelion moms project kindness so as to inspire others to help spread loveliness and kindness out into the world. Much like dandelion seeds that blow miles away – a simple act of kindness can have a big impact and create a domino effect. The Buddy Cruise: This month is Autism Awareness Month so we wanted to feature an organization that helps educate about special needs as well as provides a way for families with special needs children to come together and support one another with their yearly Buddy Cruise. I had a chance to speak to one of the Directors of the organization and she talks about the work they do to promote awareness within the community and in schools. Dandelion Moms Project Kindness for March :: Update
In March, the dandelion moms project kindess featured a grass-roots organization looking to raise money and books to build a library in the small town of San Francisco de Macons in the Domincan Republic. We are happy to report that they have raised $15,689 (some money was donated privately) of the $19,000 needed! Thank you dandelion moms for your donations and for sending in almost 120 books that will be used in the new library! Rebecca Rousculp, one of the organizers and creators of this campaign wrote and said: “114 books is an amazing contribution. We started with 600, so that is boosting our collection significantly!
