Apple Picking in Southern California
Image courtesy of Flickr When I think about fall I can’t help but think of the beautiful reds and yellows of the changing leaves, and the thoughts of pumpkins and apples fill my mind. I love the way the air finally feels crisp in the early morning, and the scent of cinnamon is in the air. I want my children to have those same memories, and the feelings of joy and excitement this season brings. However, fall is a hard thing to come by in Southern California. With the temperatures still well in the 80’s, and the only color leaves we see are green or brown, we have to head…

CURIOUS GEORGE: A Hallowen Boo Fest Premieres October 27th
You’re invited to the spooky return of CURIOUS GEORGE: A Halloween Boo Fest on PBS KIDS! On Monday, October 27, everyone’s favorite monkey returns in his Halloween special, kicking off season 9 with a week of new episodes from the popular series! Last year I had the pleasure of speaking with the Executive Producer of Curious George, Dorothea Gillim who also created Word Girl! She spoke about how difficult it can be to produce a show where the main character doesn’t speak. Smart Home Essentials :: The Benefits of Going Solar
Recently we had an AC Repair company come out to see why our 25+ year old air conditioner wasn’t blowing cold air. His initial response was “let’s see if putting some more coolant will fix the problem.” This worked for about one week and after that it was just blowing warm air again. If you live in southern California you know this past summer was a hot one! In fact, we are still having 90 degree weather mid October. The AC repairman came out again and let us know that our hardworking dinosaur of an AC is kaputt. finished. all-washed up. Great – and how much is that going…

Tech :: The National PTA and LifeLock #ShareAwesome Campaign
Image courtesy of Flickr Sometimes I think about how much the world has changed in just the past five years. My daughter was about two years old when the first iPhone came out and boy did that open up our world! I mean we now had at our fingertips a computer that allowed us to check our emails, Twitter and Facebook pages at any time of the day and Google just about anything we might want to know, Yelp where to eat, etc., etc.! Whereas before I had to wait to come home and check my laptop. I do sometimes think that life has sped up a bit because of this ability to…
