March 26th is National Purple Day that was created in 2008 by Cassidy Megan, a nine year old girl from Nova Scotia, Canada, who told her mother she wanted to create a day that would help people with epilepsy not feel alone. Cassidy knew first-hand what it felt like to be isolated as she was never invited over for sleepovers by her classmates due to her epilepsy condition. Celebrating the Meaning of Passover
The Meaning of Passover: Every year we gather as a family and people to retell the story of Passover. The Jewish people were slaves in Egypt. The Pharaohs used the Jews as slave labor to build the pyramids. Their quest for eventual freedom began when the Pharaoh Rames was told by an astrologer that the the Jews would revolt against his rule. He then declared that all Jewish baby boys were to be killed. Instagram of the Week: The Beauty of the Dandelion
Spring is here! This past week it I saw white dandelions sprouting up everywhere and while walking my dog, saw no less than 50 in the grass along the sidewalk. Intentionally transplanted from Europe over to the New World in the early days of the American Colonies, the humble dandelion has long been at the side of man, providing nutrition, herbal medicine and the little burst of cheer that comes with the bright little flowers. Throughout the ages, dandelions have been woven into cultural folklore and have become a positive symbols with a variety of meanings. Some of the folklore associated with dandelions include blowing on the white part of the dandelion after making…

Gluten Free Frozen Yogurt Fruit Bites
I love to have fun snacks for my kids that are healthy as well as tasty. I also look for snacks that are easy to make. Since I eat gluten free, I try to find snacks that will work for me as well as for my kids. For this snack, I cut up some fruit and dipped the small bites size pieces in Greek Yogurt. I used honey flavored, but you can use vanilla, or plain yogurt too. Greek Yogurt is a little thicker, so I find that it works betters than regular yogurt. After the fruit pieces are dipped in the yogurt, place them on parchment paper and put…

Inspirational Mom: Susanna Lee of Peachy Company
It is always interesting to hear from creative moms how they came up with their ideas to start a business. Susanna Lee was inspired to create the Aqueduck Faucet Extender after a trip to Disneyland where she was constantly having her boys wash their hands. I love to hear about moms who have an idea for a product or service and just make it happen! Susanna’s product has gone on to win several awards and last year she was one of the HuggiesMom Inspired Grant recipients. We had a chance to talk about her product idea and how her three boys were her inspiration behind creating Aquaduck. …

Come Celebrate National Wildlife Week! Did you know this week is National Wildlife Week? Perfect timing for a review of their great app and digital magazine that The National Wildlife Federation created where kids can explore an animated African savannah in search for lions. The National Wildlife Federation is America’s largest conservation organization. They work with more than 4 million members, partners and supporters in communities across the country to protect and restore wildlife habitat, confront global warming and connect with nature. I love how the National Wildlife Federation’s mission is to inspire Americans to protect wildlife for our children’s future. Last summer we took a trip…
