Review: Top iPad Cases
When I first found out that I had won an iPad 2 for my son through A4cwsn my excitement turned to panic in a matter of hours. I went from joy and elation to the inevitable “oh my gawd what if he drops it” to “what if he throws it”. I ended up making a list of ten cases that were noted as ‘the best’ and eventually after reviews and watching youtube video after video I narrowed it down to five. From five to three. From three to the top two until finally I settled on “the one”. Since that time more cases have come out and we’ve seen the iPad…

How To Stay On Budget This Holiday Season
How To Stay On Budget This Holiday Season I know I said that we would start to look at home-based business bookkeeping systems, but I’d like to take a quick break and talk about the holidays. This is a very stressful time for most people. One of the biggest stressors is the cost. So, how can you get what you need and still stay on budget? I have a few ideas: Make a List! First, make a list (I love lists) of all of the people you need to purchase gifts for. Next, make a list of other things you need to buy. Do you need or want any…

The Happiest Little Elf
It’s that time of year again. With what feels like the blink of an eye, we’re back to celebrating the holiday season. It seems that with each passing year, as the kids get older, this special time of year seems to roll around faster and faster. I don’t know about you, but I dread the day when the kiddies no longer scamper down the stairs on Christmas morning and squeal with delight at the sight of presents under the tree. I never want the magic to end! Somewhere around mid-December of last year, my family was ready for Christmas, but it wasn’t quite ready for us. The tree has been…

Living Through Superstorm Sandy
We were lucky. Sandy huffed and puffed but didn’t blow our house in. I wish the same could be said for tens of thousands of people along the north east coast line who were not so fortunate and still face the daunting task of pulling their lives back together. Sandy was scary. No two ways about it. We started to feel the effects on Sunday but the real storm arrived on Monday. The skies darkened. The trees began to sway more and more violently as the hours passed. The tension of what might happen began to grow in our stomachs. The power began to switch on and off, teasing us.…

Presents – How Much is Too Much?
Can you believe Christmas is around the corner and the silly season is nearly upon us? Amongst all the feasting on rich food, indulging in plum pudding and hanging out with extended family, there’s the inevitable mountain load of new presents for the kids. It’s got me thinking lately, how much stuff do our kids really need? Deciding how many presents to give can be tricky. Most people would agree that kids today receive far more presents than we did when we were young. We love to see our kids’ faces light up when they receive what they wanted, but we don’t want them to develop an entitlement behavior…

Gluten Free Graham Crackers
I found this yummy recipe for gluten-free graham crackers on the website for Jules Gluten Free Flour. You can either make your own graham crackers from scratch, or Jules has made it easy for you to buy her gluten-free graham cracker mix. You just have to add a few ingredients to the dry mixture. Graham crackers are easy to make and taste yummy by themselves, but I am excited to use these gluten-free graham crackers as a crust in a few pies for the holidays. –Note: I didn’t get as many graham crackers out of my batch as the recipe claims, but it was still plenty. I also didn’t take…
