Bonding Over Old-School Classics
Image found on awn My younger brother and I couldn’t wait for Saturday cartoons and our morning would usually start around 6:30 am, him in his Superhero Underoo’s (remember those?), our cereal bowls filled with Fruity Pebbles or Lucky Charms (our favorites) and we would watch cartoons until about noon. It is great sharing these old school cartoons and movies with my daughter. I think part of the appeal for parents to share toys, TV shows and movies they grew up with is to show our kids that we were kids once too! And I think it lets us go down memory lane to a time of childhood wonder. There’s something pretty awesome…

Have Courage and Be Kind ~ Cinderella
Have courage and be kind. Such wise words from Cinderella’s mother! As moms we are constantly bombarded with a million and one things to do every day, week and year. It almost feels like we are on a long windy road sometimes and we don’t really see an end in sight. And many of the things we are doing every day are for our family. The kids need our attention 24/7 and if we want to keep our marriage healthy – our husbands need some of that attention! I’ve heard that marriages are work – and need to be given attention to. It is so important to spend time each day just talking…

Musings :: Beware the Stage Mom
“While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about.” ~ Angela Schwindt Last week I was reminded of how important it is to instill confidence in our children. I mean the kind of confidence that allows them to navigate in the world from a place of kindness but also a place from which no one can disrupt their sense of self. Building up my daughter’s self-esteem has been at the forefront of my parenting. “Healthy self-esteem is like a child’s armor against the challenges of the world. Kids who know their strengths and weaknesses and feel good about themselves…

SEVEN Luxury Haircare Products :: A Review & Giveaway
Over the years I have had issues… with my hair! I think it is a combination of life changes and hormone issues (I really need to get my thyroid checked out again) that has changed my hair – and not for the better! That is, until my hairstylist, Michelle, owner of the very cool Al.Ka.Li Hair Salon in Costa Mesa, told me about SEVEN, a new haircare line she is in-love with. I figured I’d give it a shot since I didn’t have much to lose. I tried out a couple of the different shampoo’s they offer and found the best match for my hair to be their gluten-free shampoo and conditioner – which…

Father’s Day Gift Ideas
It’s almost time for dad’s to get their day of recognition (June 21st) this year. On that note, I decided to put some things together from free to high for the man/men in your life. *Note: a couple freebies are below for child(ren) to make with your assistance for their dad/grandpa* I’d also like to take a moment and say: this year will be eight years of not having my dad here to splurge on, make fun of, laugh with, and really just see him and get that huge bear-hug which engulfed me and made me feel three all over again. I was/am/always will be a daddy’s girl. I miss looking into my…

Dwell :: Fun Ways to use Dough Bowls in the Home
A few years back I found this awesome dough bowl at a garage sale and have been wondering how best to use it in my home. I love how versatile it can be and you can change it up season by season. While I am still debating about how best to use it in my home, for now, it will hold some of my favorite home décor magazines. Mixing antiques with modern décor is one of my favorite looks and I think the wooden dough bowls go with just about any style – from shabby-chic, modern, bohemian, to even traditional – depending on what you put inside it…
