Disney’s McFarland USA is Truly Inspirational :: A Review & Giveaway
Discover Your Inner Champion New on Disney Blu-ray® Combo Pack, Disney Movies Anywhere, and Digital HD on June 2nd A few months ago I took my eight year old to see McFarland USA and we both absolutely loved it! I appreciate that this is a true story about kids who worked hard to achieve their dreams. And that their coach helped them realize dreams they didn’t even know they had yet. I used this movie and their stories to talk with my daughter about hard work, determination and going after one’s dreams. This true story features high school kids who grew up working in the fields before school and…

What Type of Traveler Are You?
You know those vacations – the ones on a tropical island with nothing around but a white sandy beach, softly-swaying palm trees, and an ice-cold margarita while the crystal clear water gently ripples at your freshly-pedicured toes? Although I LOVE those types of family trips, they are definitely not the reality we have experienced since leaving the comforts of home and traveling full-time!! Instead, our travels include exploring amazing sights, from the crumbling and ancient to the sparkling new, learning about the local culture, trying new foods, getting lost with the locals in remote villages, having to struggle our way in a foreign language just to order a bottle of…

National Bike Month: Keeping Kids Safe
May is National Bike Month, which included National Bike to Work Week (May 11-15). Since 1956, National Bike Month has encouraged riders all over the country to explore the opportunity of bike riding and its many benefits. Now that my kids are getting older, they are both more interested in going out and riding their bikes. I’m not opposed to bike rides, but I tend to be worried about the dangers of cars. There are so many distractions for drivers today: cell phones, GPS screens on the dashboard, loud music. I remember riding my bike up and down the street as fast as I could go, no helmet, and…

Disneyland’s 60th Diamond Celebration Starts May 22nd
Disneyland Diamond Celebration Begins! Every year we save up to get our Disneyland Season Passes because we love heading over there for an afternoon stroll after school or during holiday breaks. And it wouldn’t be (my) birthday celebration without spending the day there with my crew! It is such a magical place and every time I walk through the gates I immediately turn into my eight year old self. It is so exciting to hear they are celebrating their 60th Anniversary this year and boy, do they have a ton of fun activities planned! Hope you can stop by the park and enjoy the celebrations! Health :: Are You At-Risk for a Life Threatening Blood Clot?
When I was asked to write about a new campaign the National Blood Clot Alliance (NBCA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention called Stop the Clot, Spread the Word™ are working on together, I immediately thought of Stephanie O’Neil Morris, a beautiful woman and spirit I met through Facebook and the A4cwsn group. We became friends and she and I use to correspond about our kids (we both have redheads) and our ancestry (we are both Irish) online so it came as a complete shock to read on Facebook one day two years ago, that she has passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. After reading more about what happened from her husband and friends,…

Family Is What You Make It!
Families. Today, we are seeing all types of families and they are starting to look less like The Cleavers! What we see today has evolved into a vast range of possibilities. Our family consists of in-laws, cousins, sister-in-laws, with a few adorable kids thrown in as well. And since we celebrate both Christian and Jewish holidays we can be found honoring both religions around the holidays with Passover, Easter, Christmas and Hanukah. This makes for a pretty busy holiday season but I wouldn’t want to trade it with anything else! I just love that my daughter is gaining an understanding of our family traditions. Through the years, I have…
