Culture :: History of Skateboarding in Southern California
Growing up in Southern California in the 70’s I was introduced to skateboarding early on. I have a vivid memory of skateboarding down the street near my house trailing behind my dog, Max (a large Standard Poodle) holding his leash while riding. I thought it a good idea to grab a tennis ball I found in the gutter and throw it and jump back on to have Max drag us along. Hmmm… not such a good idea as I went tumbling when my board hit a rock and I still have to this day a scar on my elbow. When my daughter asked for a board last year I did…

Education :: Exploring The Wild West With The Kids
There’s something about the Wild West that strikes everyone’s interest. For some it’s the cowboys and Indians, for others it’s the gold rush, or the lore of treacherous travels through uncharted wilderness. This summer, we embarked on a mini-exploration of the Wild West and it was fun to see which parts intrigued my kids the most. I’m in the Los Angeles area so we kicked off our adventure with a visit to the Autry National Center. The museum is fantastic. While some of it is structured like a traditional museum – stay behind the ropes, don’t touch the artwork, and keep your voices low- there were several opportunities for…

San Diego Zoo’ Global Supports Wildlife Conservation
Summer is the perfect time to take a visit to the zoo and is a fun activity the whole family can enjoy. A place where you can see all your favorite animals. Preventing extinction is possible and is happening thanks to an organization committed to connecting people to wildlife and conservation on both a national and global level. San Diego Zoo’ Global :: Wildlife Conservancy In the modern era of zoos, it’s important to do more than just keep animals. We need…

I’m waving my hand! So if you are a Honda car owner make sure to check their Twitter and Facebook page (hint: today they are in Anaheim) for details. The helpful…

Inspiration Found at Disney On The Road
Okay, by now you probably know I am a big kid at heart and love all things Disney! After attending the Disney Social Media Moms event back in April I truly appreciated (even more) what an amazing visionary Walt Disney really was and love that he never gave up on his dream of creating the Happiest Place On Earth! Which I can honestly say is one of my favorite places to go with the family. I love to see my daughter’s face light up while on the roller coasters or when she runs into a Disney character at the park. Plus, there is something about eating popcorn while walking…

Ideas to Create Your Summer “Fun” List
Summer has officially started in our household! My daughter “graduated” from first grade and will be starting second in about four weeks (she goes to a year round so doesn’t have long breaks). I wanted to make a list of fun things to do this summer to help keep her busy and keep me sane. You know those days when you are thinking what shall we do today – without breaking the bank! Today I plan to make a list of things we would all like to do over the summer. I think the more free-flowing our suggestions are – the better – who knows what might come up that might…
