    Health :: Eating Sensibly Postpartum

    August 1, 2015 /

    Eating Sensibly Postpartum   It’s of time of excitement, when your little baby has arrived; however, other emotions are also in the mix, like overwhelm, melancholy, and exhaustion. The first step in settling all of these emotions is acknowledging them and then taking action. It’s essential to listen to the demands of your body: take a nap when you need to, nourish yourself with a variety of whole colorful foods, and possibly take some supplements to keep you strong and healthy.   1. Keep Hydrated This is extremely important, especially if you are nursing, as approximately 90% of breast milk is water and dehydration may lead to fatigue, poor concentration, constipation…

    Ideas for a Dragon-themed Party!

    July 31, 2015 /

    A few years back when the previews were showing for the new How to Train Your Dragon movie my daughter and I couldn’t wait to see it!  We even hosted a dragon-themed birthday party the year the first movie came out and have some fun ideas you can use for your next party.  This past month, Netflix aired their original series Dragons: Race to the Edge and introduces some of the most exciting dragons yet, each with its own amazing abilities — shock waves, cannon balls and fire blasts, just to name a few. With the magical Dragon Eye, an artifact Hiccup finds aboard an abandoned ship, Hiccup learns there is more outside the confines of Berk, and that…

    Answering Your Medical Questions just got easier with Amwell

    July 30, 2015 /

      One of the things I love about my job (most days I do love my job) is finding out about new products, technology and services and then sharing them with you!  I have to say that the following service I am writing about today is pure genius.  Amwell is the first ever digital health practice that gives us access to board certified doctors 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Plus it is super easy to access from your phone, tablet or computer.  You are only 3 steps away from talking to a live human being about any health – mental or physical issues you are concerned about – all from…

    The Importance of Community

      We have been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. These sponsored posts help support the site, but all opinions are mine alone. #ASweetSale #CollectiveBias  #Albertsons   It is hard to believe that we have lived in our neighborhood for almost 20 years now!  I moved here years ago and rented an apartment because my then-boyfriend (who is now my husband) told me he had friends who lived in the neighborhood and that they really liked the area.  Who knew that our family would be going on 20 years, have lived in two apartments in the area, purchased our home 100 yards from our apartment, got engaged, married and had our…

    Health :: Finding the Fountain of Youth

    July 26, 2015 /

      A few weeks back I was having lunch with a good friend and she was talking about how she was trying to get her son to drink less soda. He was having some health issues and I mentioned to her about a book that I was required to read in my Masters in Human Nutrition program called Your Body’s Many Cries for Water, and suggested that he try to replace a soda a day with more water – replace one soda can with one more glass of water.  This really is one of the best health books you can read concerning your health and I can’t say enough of how it…

    Create an Art Journal

    July 26, 2015 /

      I love how coloring is bringing so much joy to people. From children to grown ups. Everyone has the potential to be creative. To color is a stress reliever. You pick colors that make you happy and without thinking you just add color with markers or pencils or even paint to a picture that you like. Fun right? In my world I am always coloring and drawing. I cannot imagine a day without artmaking, a day without color. This is how I unwind and de-stress. I often end my day with drawing, coloring and painting in my art journal. Have fun with this page! Use any materials you like,…
