    Reflections :: Finding Peace Within

    March 18, 2015 /

        Image courtesy of Flickr Where inspiration is derived is as diverse as the individuals who seek it.  I found mine in Denver, Colorado at Warren Church.  It is a small church in an old but beautiful area of Denver where the streets are lined with quaint houses and a large park nearby.  The congregation there have little in common other than their faith. In 2012, I found myself unable to work due to health issues.  I applied for Social Security which took a very long two years to receive.  During this process, I lost my home, my car and many of my belongings.  It was a very dark…

    The Langham Huntington Hotel is a Must-See Travel Destination

    March 17, 2015 /

      In January I attended the PBS Winter Press Tour and had the fortune to stay at the lovely Langham Huntington, Pasadena Hotel which is situated at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains.  I always enjoy going to the PBS events because it reminds me how much I love their programming,  but this Winter Tour was extra special because of the accommodations courtesy of The Langham Huntington, Pasadena Hotel.     Driving through the gorgeous older Pasadena neighborhoods you are taken back in time. These neighborhoods were most likely built in the 1940’s and I can only imagine all the hustle and bustle of Hollywood during that time. To provide a visual,…

    March 14 is National Pi Day! Ways to Have Fun With Math

    March 12, 2015 /

    If you take a few minutes to do a Google search about the most popular subjects in school, you might be surprised to find that math receives an overwhelmingly popular vote. Elementary-aged students seemed to be especially fond of the subject. If you dig deeper you’ll also find it gets a lot of negative votes, and those thumbs-down seem to be ever-increasing as common core curriculum is forced into classrooms. Last year, my then-kindergartner went to the library with his class and chose a math book to bring home for the week. During his reading buddy time with a 4th grader, they generally finished their reading early. I asked him…

    Bluebee Pals are Loveable Bluetooth Buddies You Can Take Anywhere!

    March 11, 2015 /

      Introducing the first tech stuffed animal: Recently I discovered a new tech product called Bluebee Pals.  They look cute and snuggly but I was blown away with all that they do!  They can read endless apps, listen to any type of music your children want to listen to and can even take a phone call.  They are soft and cuddly and perfect for road trips or even a trip to the doctor’s office.  I like the fabric on the lion as it makes for easy cleaning which is always a plus!  And it is quite fun to see their mouths move along with a favorite song or children’s story.    …

    Come Celebrate Knott’s Boysenberry Festival March 28th through April 12th

    March 9, 2015 /

      What’s Hot In Southern California: Knott’s Berry Farm Boysenberry Festival: This spring, celebrate Knott’s delicious roots during its Boysenberry Festival harvested in the theme park’s historic Ghost Town. The 16-day festival returns with an unforgettable lineup of exquisite Boysenberry Bites, dazzling entertainment, gourmet food and the Wine and Craft Brew Tasting Garden, plus the limited time return of the classic Bear-y Tales characters in a pie making kitchen, and more!  I love exploring the park during this festival and tasting all the yummy food they are offering – especially the boysenberry pie and Mrs. Knott’s famous fried chicken – yum! Walter Knott harvested the first Boysenberry: In the 1930s…
