Whole Foods and PBS Kids Promote Healthy Eating
After my health scare this past year, I was reminded of how important it is to be in good health. It really is the foundation to living a full and vibrant life! Especially if you have young children, you want to teach them the importance of making good food choices to ensure they grow up appreciating and taking care of their own health. So I was happy to hear that Whole Foods Market and PBS Kids have partnered up to offer families tools that support healthy eating. They offer FREE resources, including materials from their newest preschool series, PEG + CAT, which focuses on preschool math and…

Musings :: Reconnecting with the Child Within
My husband and I have wanted to find a team sport that our daughter could play so she could learn about team camaraderie. We were fortunate to get on a soccer team for girls seven and under and she had her first practice and game this past week. My husband was quite the athlete and enjoyed playing sports throughout his childhood and into college so his competitive drive is pretty prevalent in any type of competition. His college buddies play a yearly golf tournament that they all go into like they are competing in The Masters. Our daughter has this same fierce competitive drive and has been known to break down in tears if she loses at Old Maid or…

Recipes :: Fall Comfort Food
Today is the official start of Fall. I love this time of year – from wearing fall clothes (my obsession with coats can be fully realized) to making hearty meals that can be enjoyed on a cold fall day. I found some healthy yet comforting foods the entire family will enjoy. What’s not to like about Homemade Cheez-Its? Perfect for football season and for your children’s school lunches. Enjoy! Slow-Roasted BLT: Seeing this yummy BLT almost makes me want to eat bread again for the day – but I have taken out gluten so this wouldn’t work. But for those with no gluten sensitivities, this looks…

Travel :: Best Places to Visit in the Fall
“To travel is to live.” Hans Christian Andersen, The Fairy Tale of My Life, An Autobiography During my twenties I traveled as much as I could while living in Japan and have visited remote towns in Vietnam and Thailand but have yet to visit Europe! Those Southeast Asia travels opened up my eyes to the vastness of the world and I came to understand how much I had to learn. Since my daughter was born, we have not had the opportunity to travel as much as most can attest to how much work it is to travel with little ones. Now that she is older, we are planning on broadening our horizons…

Growing Up Online and Dr. Seuss’ THE LORAX DVD & Blu-ray Combo Pack Giveaway
Recently, we have been looking into some programs to add to our computer and iPad so that my daughter doesn’t accidently get onto a site she shouldn’t be on. I have heard horrible stories from other mothers who told me that their child clicked on something that looked age-appropriate but brought them to a website that was definitely not for children. I am glad to see that The More You Know Learning Series, in collaboration with NBC News, has launched Growing Up Online, the FREE eBook for parents to keep their kids safe on the Internet! Our children have never known a world without the Internet and are spending more and more…
