5 Easy Recipes for Memorial Day

    May 27, 2018 /

Memorial Day weekend is a great time to reflect on those who have helped keep our country safe.  I’ve always had so much respect for those who wear a uniform.  And it is a great time to get together with friends and family.  What are your plans this holiday weekend?  Does your community host a Memorial Day parade?  It love seeing the older soldiers wearing their uniforms walking in the parade and getting the respect they deserve! If you are looking for some easy recipes to help celebrate Memorial Day look no further than this easy shortbread, ice cream and whip cream dessert.  It took me less than 5…

Slow Cooker Mexican Shredded Chicken Soup

    May 23, 2018 /

One of my favorite meals anytime of the year is soup! We wanted to try out a new slow-cooker recipe and found this one on Food Network courtesy of Ree Drummond.  Love her and the recipes she creates!  She doesn’t like to skimp at meals and this soup is super refreshing with the lime and tomato base but also really hearty! And who doesn’t love to throw everything in the slow cooker and head out the door for the day.  Super easy recipe and it tastes even better the next day.   You will need: 2-3 boneless, skinless organic chicken breasts 1 teaspoon chili powder 1 teaspoon ground cumin…

Knott’s Berry Farm HANGTIME Roller Coaster Defies Gravity!

    May 19, 2018 /

HangTime, the first and only dive coaster in California, is now open at Knott’s Berry Farm!  HangTime towers 150 feet over the Boardwalk area showcasing a beyond vertical drop, gravity-defying inversions, and mid-air suspensions. This week I was invited to attend the Knott’s Berry Farm HangTime Preview Party on behalf of Belair Mommie because she was too chicken to go.  I joke, but after riding both the Xcelerator The Ride® AND the surf-themed rollercoaster HangTime – the first and only dive coaster in California, I can’t blame her.  For those who love a thrill ride you are in for a treat! I’ve never experienced a ride like that – ever!  It feels…

Curiosity May Be the Single Most Important Trait for Success in School

    May 16, 2018 /

This week I came across an article that really hit home with me and confirmed my  thoughts on the importance of creativity and why parents and educators should encourage this trait. New research published in the journal Pediatric Research in April suggests there may be one simple trait that can help kids learn and succeed in school, regardless of their socioeconomic background. Researchers who looked at the reading and math scores of 6,200 kindergarteners in 2006 and 2007 found that those kids whose parents rated their children’s behavior as most curious did the best in school, regardless of socioeconomic status. The results were consistent for both boys and girls, too. The…

    Create an Indoor Oasis

    May 15, 2018 /

Lately I have been really into gardening.  I find it relaxes me  and I love seeing my little garden bloom!  And now I’ve moved onto bringing more houseplants into our new place.  I love having plants in each room and I’ll share with you some pictures of our new plant additions.  I almost feel like we need to start giving them names like Earl, our Staghorn Fern which I picked up at an estate sale over 15 years ago.  They estimated that “he” was already 40 years old.  Being so old, you can see why I thought he deserved a name. I went on a hunt to find some easy-to-care-for houseplants…

Self-care is essential for your mental and physical health

    May 14, 2018 /

I don’t know about you but when things get really hectic I absolutely need some downtime to refuel! I’m always encouraging our dandelion community to take some time out for you because frankly we all need a little break from time to time.  Juggling a family, work, a business, parents, kids, in-laws, husband, partner, etc., takes a lot of energy and I promise you that if you take care of you – you’ll have more to give others! “Maintaining the basic day-to-day with no extraordinary circumstances, keeping all those balls in the air, is a really demanding endeavor, and it leaves very little time for moms to be able…
