    October 19, 2012 /

We all want to have vitality and feel bright and energized each day.  But in today’s modern lifestyle we are so busy juggling different projects, home lives, children, and work commitments that it’s easy to become fatigued and overwhelmed at times. Luckily there are a few things we can do to help get back that zing and feel vibrant again.   Get more sleep. It might sound obvious but studies reveal that a worryingly large proportion of adults are not getting enough sleep. Getting a good night’s sleep is important for our heart, mind and wellbeing. Think about how wretched you feel after a bad night’s sleep, and…

Mommy & Me Owl Handprint Art

    October 18, 2012 /

Owls can be wise, all-knowing, and even whimsical. This autumn, owls seem to be all the rage in fashion, art and décor. Here is a delightful Mommy & Me craft to create with your young children this season. Materials: Non-toxic acrylic paint of your choice. (Owls typically are brown, white and grey; however, pink owls are cute too.) Craft paper of your choice. (I used a manila paper, but any craft paper will do.) Various styles and sizes of paintbrushes. A nearby sink to rinse small painted hands. Let’s begin: After selecting your color choice for the owl body, gently paint your child’s palm. Once the palm is painted,…

    Uncovering Your Home Decor Style

    October 17, 2012 /

One of the most common situations I encounter when I first meet with a client is intimidation over deciding on an interior decorating style.  Quite frequently I hear the following words uttered within moments of my arrival,  “I’m so overwhelmed by all the styles out there; I love everything.  So how will I ever decide?” This will be the most challenging hurdle to overcome when taking on the prospect of renovating or decorating your home.  I have a few tips to help work thru the “I love everything but can’t decide on anything” phase and move forward to the “AHA” moment.   Hunt for inspiration. Start with…

Yummy Gluten-Free Chicken Nuggets For Football Season

    October 16, 2012 /

Are you ready for a yummy half-time treat? How about some gluten-free chicken nuggets that will have the whole team asking for more? Cooking without regular flour can get a little tricky, and sometimes I have to try a recipe over and over to get it to work out. The biggest thing to remember when cooking gluten-free is to hang in there, and keep trying until you find recipes that work for you. I love to experiment with coconut flour and almond flour, but these flours definitely have their own unique taste. Sometimes you might want a hint of coconut or almonds in your recipe and other times; no way.…

    Halloween Decorating

    October 15, 2012 /

It’s getting to be that spooktacar time of the year. I’m a mom, wife and party planner who loves to decorate for the holidays. There are so many cool and crafty ways you can decorate for Halloween with out breaking the bank. I have slowly built up my Halloween decor over the years. One thing I do is allow myself to buy one Halloween item every year that I really love. Here are some tips I’ve discovered to help make your Halloween decor really stand out. It’s not about quantity but about how you choose to display your items. Choose a Focal Point: The first thing I do is…

My Top Budget Trimming Tips (or “Oh No! I’m Overbudget!”)

    October 13, 2012 /

It happens to all of us.  We make that list of expenses and the total amount exceeds our income.  What to do!  Here are some of my favorite tips: Eliminate the unnecessary.  Find those items on the list like gym memberships or other subscription services.  Anything that you don’t use regularly or really look forward to receiving should be canceled. Seek out lower cost options for your “Needs”.  Try bundling services for discounts.  Many cable companies offer discounts for combined cell phone, land line, internet and television.  You can also get great discounts on your insurance by getting multiple policies with one company.  I have been with…
