The Call of the Wild in theaters 2/21

    February 21, 2020 /

Twentieth Century Studios’ “The Call of the Wild,” adapted from the novel by Jack London, vividly brings to the screen the story of Buck, a big-hearted dog whose blissful domestic life is turned upside down when he is suddenly uprooted from his California home and transplanted to the exotic wilds of the Canadian Yukon during the Gold Rush of the 1890s. As the newest rookie on a mail delivery dog sled team–and later its leader–Buck experiences the adventure of a lifetime, ultimately finding his true place in the world and becoming his own master. As a live-action/animation hybrid, “The Call of the Wild” employs visual effects and animation technology to…

    Blueberry and Lemon Pancakes

    February 4, 2020 /

Recently I picked up a 1953 edition of The Joy of Cooking at a local estate sale. I love that it is so well-loved and that the previous owner (a Norwegian woman) wrote notes throughout and added tabs of her favorite recipes. I’m trying to tap into Julia Child and attempt various recipes from this tried-and-true recipe book! Melissa’s Produce sent me some of their delicious strawberries, blueberries and raspberries along with ready-made crepes and dessert sauces. For Valentine’s Day why not serve some pipping hot blueberry pancakes and the gang can add the dessert sauce of their choice! Don’t forget to have some Grade A maple syrup on hand…

Brown Butter & Lemon Brussels Sprouts

    January 23, 2020 /

These days I’ve been on the hunt for really simple dishes that I can put together in no time flat. I try to have the family “eat the rainbow” and these petite purple Brussels sprouts from Melissa’s Produce are too darn cute – and tasty! They look even gorgeous in person and would add some color to any dish! This brown butter lemon recipe is amazing and literally took me five minutes to put together. Health Benefits Brussels sprouts boast high levels of many nutrients and have been linked to several health benefits. Brussels Sprouts are really high in Vitamin C which is so important, especially around flu season. They…

Interview with Susan and Robert Downey Jr.

    January 17, 2020 /

Last week I had the opportunity to sit down with TEAM Downey to talk about their latest film Dolittle, out in theaters today! Susan and Robert Downey Jr. have been married since 2005 and together they created TEAM Downey, a production company that produces films using television properties since 2010. And after sitting down with these two, I am a believer that couples can in fact work together – and do it well! Susan Downey is quite something! She has been a film producer since 1995 and has overseen the development and production of feature films including Thir13en Ghosts and Swordfish and made her producing debut as a co-producer on…

Heart of the Moors by Holly Black

    November 9, 2019 /

WICKED AND WILD “Once upon a time, there was a wicked faerie called Maleficent, named for both her malice and her magnificence. Her lips were the red of freshly spilled blood, her cheekbones as sharp as the pain of lost love. And her heart was as cold as the deepest part of the ocean.” ~ Prologue to Heart of the Moors About the Book From New York Times bestselling author Holly Black comes a captivating original novel set between Disney’s Maleficent and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, in which newly-queened Aurora struggles to be the best leader to both the humans and Fair Folk under her reign; her beau, Prince Phillip, longs to get…
