    September 17, 2016 /

My three kids and I felt like we were in heaven as we entered the beautiful Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills to meet and interview the actors and filmmakers of the new Warner Bros film STORKS. The entire foyer and interview room were decorated as if we were guests of an elaborate baby shower. There were activities for the kids, some of the films’ characters, and a bountiful buffet of scrumptious treats. We were so excited to meet the panel from the film that it was difficult to sit still!           ABOUT STORKS From the studio that delivered The Lego Movie comes one of the most…

Mama Earth :: Making the World a Better Place using Music, Art, and Nature

    September 14, 2016 /

Making the World a Better Place using Music, Art, and Nature, with Andrea Miller.   Many of you can attest to the fact that so many mothers tend to “lose themselves” after having children. That’s why it’s always so inspiring to be around women who are able to bypass that feeling, and do something about it. Andrea Miller is one mother with a purpose! I first met her at the park, many years ago. She stood out to me because I couldn’t believe there was another mother of color at our park! It was a brief encounter, and to be honest, it was the last time I ever came…

Interview with DreamWorks’ Voice Actors and Filmmakers of The Boss Baby – Out March 2017

    August 30, 2016 /

The Boss Baby 20th Century Fox & DreamWorks Animation     About The Boss Baby DreamWorks Animation and the director of Madagascar invite you to meet a most unusual baby. He wears a suit, speaks with the voice and wit of Alec Baldwin, and stars in the animated comedy, DreamWorks’ The Boss Baby. The Boss Baby is a hilariously universal story about how a new baby’s arrival impacts a family, told from the point of view of a delightfully unreliable narrator, a wildly imaginative 7 year old named Tim. With a sly, heart-filled message about the importance of family, DreamWorks’ The Boss Baby is an authentic and broadly appealing original…

Teaching Our Children About Civil Rights

    August 30, 2016 /

My kids play with anyone without question. No matter what color hair or skin; regardless of their parents’ preference to vaccinate or choice of religion or method of education. They don’t care. What they care about is that the kids they play with are friendly and inclusive and compassionate. As I prepare my research for a forthcoming children’s nonfiction book about the Civil Rights Movement I am reminded that there was a time when it was commonplace to draw dividing lines based on skin color. When schools were segregated and children were limited to friends who looked the same. We made so much progress. Sadly, too often, I find…
