June is National Fruit and Vegetables Month

    June 24, 2016 /

Did you know that June is National Fruit & Vegetables Month? I didn’t until recently, and I think June is the perfect time to celebrate fruits and vegetables. Summer yields a delicious variety of fresh produce. Here are some of the fruits and vegetables that are in season now: Fruit: Peaches, Plums, nectarines, cherries, blackberries, strawberries, tomatoes, passion fruit, melon, and apricots. Vegetables: Radishes, beets, cucumbers, carrots, bell peppers, zucchini, corn, garlic, and rhubarb. What a wonderful assortment of fruits and veggies! And with school out, now is the perfect time to get in the kitchen with your kids and cook up some fresh recipes with some of these…

The Netflix Sneak :: What’s the Craziest Place You’ve Watched Netflix?

    June 20, 2016 /

The Netflix Sneak: In the bathroom? Under the covers? Where have you done it? We know there are only so many times you can hear the Dinotrux theme song before you start sneaking off to binge the new season of Orange is the New Black in the bathtub or “do work in the garage” while you secretly watch Voltron: Legendary Defender. Don’t be ashamed, moms and dads, you’re definitely not alone. For June, we want to hear the craziest place you’ve done it – aka where you sneak off to catch up on your favorite Netflix shows. There’s no shame in cashing in on a little me-time.  Where do you…

    Tips for a Summer Cold

    June 19, 2016 /

This past February the entire family got that horrible flu that was going around the country.  I am not sure who brought it home but I’d put my money on my husband bringing it home since he was the first one down, then me and next our daughter.  We were all so sick and hadn’t felt that horrible in literally years.  I remember looking over at my husband on the couch and seeing he had fallen asleep watching a movie sitting up.  But more like half sitting up half collapsed over.  I had to shake him to make sure he was still with us – truly it…

Disney Pixar’s Finding Dory Out in Theaters 6/17!

    June 18, 2016 /

The time is now and after 13 years, I am so excited to say that FINDING DORY is now playing in theatres everywhere! This is one of Pixar’s best films and I promise the whole family will love this movie!  Last month I had a chance to preview about 20 minutes of the much anticipated new Disney movie Finding Dory at the Disney Social Media Moms Conference and absolutely loved it!  I wasn’t sure if this movie could compare to Finding Nemo but it sure does.       Disney•Pixar’s “Finding Dory” reunites everyone’s favorite forgetful blue tang, Dory, with her friends Nemo and Marlin on a search for answers about…

Brain-Boosting Activities to Prevent the Summer Slide

    June 14, 2016 /

Studies show that during summer months kids who don’t read can lose two to three months of the skills they learned in school. Use it or lose it right? But how do you go about getting in daily activities that help prevent summer slide? It’s easier than you might think, and it doesn’t have to be limited to sitting at home reading a book. Yes, go to your library and get books. Join some summer reading programs. And encourage children to read for at least 20 minutes a day on their own. But here are a few other ways to keep their brains in business so they are ready for…
