Travel :: A Lesson In The Desert

    May 27, 2016 /

The Joshua tree is commonly found in the Mojave Desert, the Sonoran Desert, and some areas of the San Bernardino Mountains. Native Americans used the rough leaves of this tree to weave baskets and sandals, and ate the flower buds and seeds.  Unlike other trees, Joshua trees have no rings so we are unable to accurately determine their age. They may grow quickly through the first five years if the conditions are right, but the average Joshua tree grows only ½ to 3 inches per year. Out in the desert, insects, birds, reptiles, and small mammals make homes out of the majestic Joshua tree.   National Park Service celebrates…

Three Less Conventional Resources for Healthy Recipes

    May 24, 2016 /

Three Less Conventional Resources for Healthy Recipes Keeping your family well-fed with delicious meals requires some serious dedication. A lot of moms turn to their cookbooks or their Pinterest boards for menu ideas. While these can be terrific resources, it is common to find yourself going back to the same types of recipes time and again. Boredom with your homemade meals can lead you to impulsively purchase fast food, wrecking your budget and your balanced diet. In this situation, you need to get creative. Instead of opting for takeout when the tedium of the same old dishes becomes overwhelming, try looking for new recipes in unusual places. Check the…

A New Way to Chat and Snap Via Picpal

    May 17, 2016 /

Ever wanted an app that allowed you to message, take pictures (not just selfies), and allowed you to talk with your friends or family (privately) – all together? Well, picpal is that app! What’s more it doesn’t matter if you have an iDevice or an Android (sorry, Windows app store is not currently available); and that means a lot as not all families and friends are in the same camp when it comes to their phones or tablets. You’re able to sign up with picpal through Facebook or now via email – after their recent update and as many (lots and lots) didn’t like that it was Facebook dependent. Smart move in my…

The Angry Birds Movie out on May 20th!

    May 17, 2016 /

When Angry Birds game came out a few years back our family would spend hours playing it together on the iPad.  My daughter was about four years old and we had a blast taking turns trying to move through the different levels. We really liked the Halloween Angry Birds and Star Wars version. We can’t wait to see the movie this week and finally find out WHY the birds are so angry!  What happened between the pigs and birds?  I hope the movie answers this and more because let me tell you we’ve wanted to know for a long time! The movie takes us to an island populated entirely by…
