An Awesome and Affordable South African Safari – Addo Elephant Park

    August 7, 2016 /

The highlight of my family’s one month trip to South Africa this spring was our self-drive safari in Addo Elephant Park. South Africa offers many different types of safaris throughout the country – from luxurious one week safaris to the one-day self-drive ones. Since we travel full-time on a budget, the idea of spending thousands of dollars on a week safari just wasn’t going to happen. We heard that the self-drive tours are still fantastic and at a fraction of the cost – and it was so true! AMAZING!! Since we were traveling along the southern coast of South Africa in an area called The Garden Route, we decided to try…

Four Fun Places to See African Wildlife Up Close – South Africa

    July 30, 2016 /

Along the Garden Route that runs along the coast of South Africa, there are many animal parks where visitors have the chance to go on educational tours and get up close to many beautiful African animals. We had a fantastic experience driving along the Garden Route for 2 weeks and stopping at many parks along the way. It was a big check off my bucket-list to finally get up close to cheetahs, lions, monkeys, and so many other wild animals. So here are my favorite 4 parks that we visited! TENIKWA Tenikwa is a rehabilitation center for big cats where you can learn all about the animals and how we…

Imba Means Music: The African Children’s Choir Experience Through the Eyes of a Child

    December 4, 2015 /

Imba Means Sing: A Celebration of Hope Through the African Children’s Choir   “‘Imba Means Sing” delivers a heartwarming song of hope for the future.” – LA Times “Vibrant, uplifting documentary” – Common Sense Media It’s pretty amazing what great things can happen if someone cares enough. Over thirty years ago, Irishman Ray Barnett traveled to Uganda and saw, with his own eyes, children displaced and left with nothing, many, orphaned, due to war and political unrest. Having come from a place where he understood what it was like to be orphaned, the experience pulled at his heartstrings. After a bit of time, he got to know some of the…

The Latest & Greatest :: Travels with Gannon & Wyatt

    November 20, 2013 /

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness,” ~ Mark Twain (1835-1910), author of Tom Sawyer, and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.   It is funny, I was just thinking the other day about how my travels after college really helped open my eyes to the ways of the world.  I grew up in Orange County, California and went off to college in Northern Califronia, but it wasn’t until I packed my bags and lived abroad for three years that I started to see the world and myself differently.  Traveling was the best thing I could have done to add to my education.  I still love to travel and look forward…
