Interview with the Animator of Aladdin’s Genie Eric Goldberg
“Seeing characters become larger than life always brings me joy.” ~ Eric Goldberg One of my favorite parts of the Tomorrowland Media event a few weeks back was our meeting with Greg Goldberg, the Supervising Animator for Genie at the Disney Studios. He has had a long career as animator, film director and voice actor. It was so wonderful hearing him talk about the process of creating the Genie and about Robin Williams. You could tell how much he cared for Robin when he told stories about making the movie. Here are some of our favorite parts of the interview. Mr. Goldberg said that they tried several different styles for…

Spotlight On Sara Paloma Pottery
Over ten years ago I was walking along the side streets in Laguna Beach, California and came across a store that had the most amazing pottery in their window. I immediately went in and just had to have these two pieces that are still sitting in my living room bay window. Luckily, the name of the artist was written into the bottom of the vases so I contacted her to see about an interview for dandelion moms. Her pieces are so simple yet so beautiful in this simplicity. The clean lines are gorgeous and look amazing with a single stem flower of your choice coming out of the…

Artist: Tricia Courtney
Recently I came across the work of artist Tricia Courtney whose oil paintings really struck something with me. I love the colors she chooses and how the flowers seem to pop off the canvas. We had a chance to speak this week about her work and her upcoming new book Floppy Sue’s Birthday Adventure that will be published as an eBook through Pixel Mouse House. Here is what she says about what inspired her to start creating and about her new story. A happy experience at the George A. Spiva Center for the Arts in Joplin, Missouri “many, many years ago” led to Tricia Courtney’s lifelong love of art. “My…

An Adventure In Art
I’m a traveling’ gal. I feel the need to admit that straight up. I love to get up and go. In fact, if I’m at home for more than 2 weeks straight I start to get a little ‘antsy pants’. So, feeling ‘the need for speed’, I gathered my husband and our two youngest kiddos (the two left at home), and hit the wild blue yonder in search of an adventure. This most recent adventure took us to Laguna Beach, California. I would also like to admit right here and now that I l-o-v-e Southern California. The beautiful beaches, beautiful weather, and beautiful people. (Hey, did I mention the word…

Artist Jennifer Mercede
Creating and publishing a children’s book can take months and even years to see the light. I wrote Gerry the Giraffe about five years ago and had the story on the back burner until I came across an illustration of a giraffe in a Land of Nod catalogue. The picture of the giraffe was so unique and wonderful that I wanted to see Gerry come to life with this illustrator! By chance, the following month the illustrator’s name was mentioned in the updated Land of Nod catalogue so I proceeded to find out more about this creative artist. I contacted Jennifer Mercede and we spoke about the possibility of doing a book and app together. This…
