Artistic Trading Cards – Calling All Kids Remember how much you enjoyed getting mail in the mailbox as a child? Well, your kid can have that same feeling of having the world reach them with a little help from the grown-up artist in their life. Source: Daisy Yellow Art Join In The Fun: Artistic Trading Cards (ATC) are a world-wide phenomenon and a fun way for children and adults to craft together. 40/Forty: Celebrating Women
Dandelion Moms art contributor, Erna van Dyk has been busy! By Lilli LaBuen Gillen Years ago, Erna bravely uprooted her life as she knew it in South Africa and moved to Orange County in Southern California to support her husband’s goals. Always the optimist, she successfully built a new life, raising her son in a new country, making new friends, and switching careers from graphic design and marketing to doing what she loves: teaching art and helping others build a strong foundation in painting and multimedia. Many locals know her as an amazing and dedicated art teacher. Raising a family, teaching art, building a business of her own, life…

Experience The Disney Social Media Mom “On-The-Road” Conference With Me!
A few weeks ago I received some Pixie Dust from the crew over at Disney Moms. They are the group that put on the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration On-The-Road Conferences that are held a couple times a year in various spots across the country. I always enjoy going to these conferences because it just brings out the kid in me (doesn’t Disneyland do that to everyone?!) and also to hear about the cool things happening with Disney. We also heard from social media industry experts such as Erin Glover, who is an editor for the Disney Parks Blog and Megan Sayers Chapman from Babble who provided wonderful advice to…

Create an Art Journal
I love how coloring is bringing so much joy to people. From children to grown ups. Everyone has the potential to be creative. To color is a stress reliever. You pick colors that make you happy and without thinking you just add color with markers or pencils or even paint to a picture that you like. Fun right? In my world I am always coloring and drawing. I cannot imagine a day without artmaking, a day without color. This is how I unwind and de-stress. I often end my day with drawing, coloring and painting in my art journal. Have fun with this page! Use any materials you like,…

Artist Flora Bowley
The creative process is such a personal journey I love to hear about artists who do what they do so well and love their “job”. I came across Flora Bowley a few years ago and have admired her ability to draw you in to her paintings, which I find so calming. Read what Flora has to say about her journey as an artist and the new project she is working on. What was your inspiration for wanting to be an artist and create? I think I may have been born to be an artist. My happiest childhood memories included things like sculpting clay that I found near our house, braiding jewelry…

Artist/Illustrator Carolyn Le
One of my favorite things to do with my daughter is to go into the local bookstore and look at all of the beautifully illustrated children’s books. There is something quite magical about sitting down and opening up a fresh-off-the-press book with your child and reading through it together. I am drawn to many types of illustrations – I wouldn’t say I have one style I favor over another as I think it really depends on if the illustrations can make you smile, laugh, and even cry. I came across Carolyn Le’s work at a local Society for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) function about three years ago. …
