3 Awesome Women Leaders of Ancient Egypt

    September 12, 2018 /

Written by Cassidy Murray “We are not makers of history, we are made by history.” Martin Luther King Jr. Throughout time there have been countless inspiring women who have shaped the course of history. Through their brave acts and fearless persistence, they proved to the world that women are awesome leaders. And although there are innumerable women who I could address, some of the first and most astonishing women to influence the world were found in antiquity, particularly in ancient Egypt.  These were women who made concrete changes in the past which influenced and evolved culture as we know it today. These leading women became striking examples and influencers for centuries…

Traveling Back in Time in Havana, Cuba

    July 8, 2017 /

Written by Cassidy Murray As time goes by and cities and countries grow larger and greater, there is one country that remains frozen in time following the same traditions and ways of life we were accustomed to in the 1950s. This amazing city with its complicated history and incredibly energetic vibe is Havana – the capital of Cuba. Last winter my family traveled to Cuba where we spent a week exploring Havana. The city is very exotic and old fashioned in a poodle-skirt and hot pink 50’s convertible sort of way. Havana has European architecture and a fun Caribbean feel which makes the city look more antique and rustic than…

Five Fun Things to do in Sydney, Australia

    June 10, 2017 /

Written by Cassidy Murray. Australia always sounded like a mystical and faraway country to me. It wasn’t until I explored it that I realized it is also a fascinating and historic country which I now consider one of my favorite destinations. This April my family and I planned a trip to Australia while we were traveling through Asia and since Oceania always intrigued me, I was so excited when I found out I was finally going to make it to one of my bucket list countries. We planned for 2 weeks in Sydney and left the rest of our trip open knowing we had time to travel the country freely. Here…

An Off the Beaten Path Guide to My 2 Favorite Egyptian Pyramids

    May 20, 2017 /

Written by Cassidy Murray Egypt is one of the most intriguing countries in the world. It not only is home to sites that have been around for over 5,000 years, but it is also known for its chaotic yet fun culture. My family and I have traveled to Egypt 3 times and it never ceases to amaze us every trip. Whether you travel on a Nile cruise or tour on your own, you will find the magic of ancient Egypt at every turn. Each Egyptian city has hidden sights and treasures and even in the desert it’s common to find amazing artifacts. This past trip we traveled to Cairo and…

Empowering Girls to Live Up to their Full Potential in a Refugee Camp

    March 22, 2017 /

In honor of International Women’s Day 2 weeks ago, this post is dedicated to all the women and girls around the world who are working hard everyday and are persevering to have equal rights and opportunities. While volunteering in the refugee camp of Piraeus in Athens Greece, I noticed many teenage boys did not believe their teenage girl peers could for play football (soccer), volleyball and other activities. Being a teenage girl myself, these stereotypes bothered me so much that we tried our best to break these stereotypes and encourage the other girls to do the same. My family and I started by primarily empowering girls to believe in themselves…
