Anne with an E is a coming-of-age story now on Netflix
One of my favorite childhood books, Anne of Green Gables, has been re-imagined and Anne with an E premiered on Netflix last week. I absolutely LOVED this book and have thought about the story and Anne quite often over the years. Along with The Black Stallion, and Island of the Blue Dolphins, Anne of Green Gables holds a special place in my heart as it reminds me of my childhood and how magical these stories were for me. Summer Fun :: Learning How to Surf
My husband has been waiting patiently for our daughter to be a strong enough swimmer to teach her how to surf. I think part of the appeal for parents to share toys, TV shows and movies they grew up with is to show our kids that we were kids once too! And I think it lets us go down memory lane to a time of childhood wonder. There’s something pretty awesome…

Image courtesy of Flickr The summer of 2010 was a busy summer for my youngest son Hayden. It was a summer filled with many firsts. He learned how to ride his two-wheel bike—without the training wheels. He learned how to swim in the deep end—without a life jacket. He learned how to blow a bubble (bubble gum). He learned how to whistle. He lost his first, and second, baby teeth. Considering how animated and energized Hayden was—and still is—most of the time, he is also a very relaxed, go-with-the-flow kind of child. That summer, while we were visiting with friends in Montreal, the kids were eating corn on…
