Dwell :: Kid’s Indoor Reading Room Ideas

    September 10, 2013 /

Since my daughter was very little, my husband and I have been reading children’s books to her most every night.  In fact, my love of children’s picture grew so much during her early years after spending so many hours together at our local book store,  that I was inspired to write my own children’s book so that one day I could read it to her!  When I received the final draft of my book, Penelope the Purple Pirate in the mail,  I held it in my arms and was so excited to finally be able to read it to her that night. Her favorite part of the book is the About the Author page because…

Garden :: How to Make a Fairy Garden

    August 6, 2013 /

Months ago my daughter and I were walking along the Los Rios Street in San Juan Capistrano in a quaint area that has one of the oldest Missions in California, and tons of adorable and inviting shops.  We took the train down for a visit and had a wonderful girls-day out.  The nursery was having a Fairy Garden demo class and invited us to join them.  After that class I was sold on Fairy Gardens and have been meaning to do another one with my daughter.  We found some great ideas from other bloggers that provide a step-by-step tutorial on how to make your won garden this summer with the kids. …

Garden :: DIY Succulent Gift Ideas

    July 30, 2013 /

Succulents are one of my absolute favorite types of plants because they take minimal care and I love how they will surprise you with their infrequent blooms.  There are so many interesting ways to use them as accents in your garden or indoors as a table accent.  And they are perfect to give as gifts.  It is a pretty inexpensive yet unique present to give to the plant lover, friend or your child’s schoolteacher.  We found some unique DIY ideas you can do with the kids!  Some are large projects and would be more costly as you need several plants and others would take just one succulent.  The skies the limit with…

Throwing Your Child’s Birthday Party in 6 Easy Steps

    July 15, 2013 /

Tips to Throw Your Child’s Next Birthday Party:   Birthday parties for our children can be an exhausting experience, especially if it’s your first time dealing with it. Following these steps will turn an overwhelming feat into a manageable party that your child will love.     Pick a fun theme based on your child’s interests. It is their birthday after all, and they should be involved in the planning. Letting the little birthday boy or girl in on the…
