    October 20, 2015 /

Is it a daily struggle to have your kids work on their homework ?  Sometimes I am amazed at how much homework my daughter has at such a young age.  I don’t remember having that much homework until junior high.  But there are tools that can help you get and keep your kids motivated and excited about learning.  I think that is key – to have them look at their homework as less of a chore and focus on all the cool things they are learning about their world! Google Play is here to help!  Google Play just launched a new collection of free back to school-themed apps and below…

The Sphero SPRK Edition Robot Changes the Way Kids Learn

    September 15, 2015 /

Learning Today: It never ceases to amaze me when I see children working on computers and playing games on smart devices who tend to know their way around these devices better than their parents.  To be fair, many of us didn’t grow up with computers and smart phones have only been out about ten years now.  I think it is just so fantastic though that our kids have these devices at their fingertips because it brings learning to a whole new level.     Sphero SPRK – changing the way kids learn: The new Sphero SPRK Edition is an app-enabled robot that will change the way kids learn and play.  Together, the Sphero SPRK…

The Crayola DJ App Provides Hours of Entertainment

    May 29, 2015 /

The Google Play Store is all grown up! If you haven’t had a chance to check out the cool apps available now in the Google Play marketplace you just might want to as they have a vast selection of quality apps geared towards children featuring some of your favorite characters like Barbie or Lego, and content from The Jim Henson Company Doozers-Play Along Stories and Crayola’s DJ interactive app from Legacy Games. This past April, the Google Play Store began allowing apps to request a review to earn a “family friendly” designation. Those apps must comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, which provides safeguards for children younger…

The Book App Alliance is a Great Resource for Parents

    April 22, 2015 /

About two years ago I was approached by a group of authors who wanted to form a new organization that would help parents and teachers find quality storybook apps in the App Store.   I was game to get on board since I know how tough it is for parents to sift through the thousands of apps available and I wanted to be a part of an organization that supports indie authors!  The Book App Alliance was created by leading authors who create interactive books for kids.  We have found that many parents and teachers are confused about digital books (eBook vs. book app), how to use them, and how to go about finding hidden gems in the App Store. The…
