Creating Family Traditions this Holiday Season

    December 20, 2017 /

Image courtesy of Disney Animation   Today, Disney is celebrating the digital release of OLAF’S FROZEN ADVENTURE starring the voice cast of Josh Gad, Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell and Jonathan Groff. The digital copy of Olaf’s Frozen Adventure will also add six classic Disney shorts to your holiday digital collection.      In Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 21-minute featurette “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure,” Olaf (voice of Josh Gad) teams up with Sven on a merry mission. It’s the first holiday season since the gates reopened and Anna (voice of Kristen Bell) and Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel) host a celebration for all of Arendelle. When the townspeople unexpectedly leave early to…

    Inspiring New Family Holiday Traditions

    December 8, 2015 /

This quote by the ever so wise Dr. Seuss is one of my favorites!  For me, the holidays represents a time to show those we care about that we are thinking of them.  And this can be done with a handwritten holiday card, a present that you thought would be just right for them or spending time together. It really isn’t about how much money you spend but more the thought that goes into letting them know you are thinking of them! Spending quality time together really is what it is all about don’t you think?! What are some family traditions in your home? We really love family movie night,…

4 Important Tips for Enjoying the Holidays

    December 4, 2013 /

The holidays can be loaded, it’s true.  It’s that potentially chaotic time of doing the make-sure-everything-looks-good-and-gets-done rounds.  Pile the added traveling/visiting/gift-giving responsibilities on top of the guarantee of nostalgia, and it’s no wonder some people wish they could skip December.  If that isn’t you, horaay!  The following will only enhance your already special time.  Here are tips for enjoying the holidays without bankrupting your peace and happiness.   Embrace Nostalgia. The holidays bring memories, it is unavoidable.  But you are the writer of your own story.  If holiday nostalgia has traditionally been a struggle, you have permission to rewrite.  Start new traditions.  If you never had a…

    Celebrating the Meaning of Passover

    March 25, 2013 /

The Meaning of Passover:   Every year we gather as a family and people to retell the story of Passover. The Jewish people were slaves in Egypt.  The Pharaohs used the Jews as slave labor to build the pyramids.  Their quest for eventual freedom began when the Pharaoh Rames was told by an astrologer that the the Jews would revolt against his rule.  He then declared that all Jewish baby boys were to be killed.   A Jewish mother, Miriam, and her daughter decided to hide their new born boy to spare his life.  He was placed in a basket, and put him in the river…

    Creating Family Traditions at Christmas

    December 16, 2012 /

There are few holidays that hold the place of Christmas for family traditions. Through the years we create and maintain traditions that have a special place in our memories. Some are sacred and never change, while others are replaced with a new tradition that fits the family dynamics at the time. When our son was growing up, the day after Thanksgiving we gathered with extended family and turkey leftovers and drove to Santa’s Acres to cut down the perfect tree. When our son went off to college, we purchased our first pre-lit tree. I used my creative side to decorate it in elegant gold and white ornaments, garlands, flowers…
