How a Travel Journal Became My Daughter’s Greatest Treasure
Have you ever bought a journal and promised yourself to write in it EVERYDAY, only to have days, weeks, and months go by without even opening it? Are you one of those people who has a library of partly filled beautiful journals gathering dust on a shelf? If so, then like you, I have always had a fascination with journals – especially ones I bring on a trip with great intentions to fill it with vivid details of a fabulous adventure. Yet, after the first few days of beautifully written journal entries, I begin to lose interest and think, “Oh, I’ll just write in it later.” I write in the…

Summer Fun :: Family Vacation Tips
Are you planning on taking a family trip this summer? Do the kids love car rides or are they always asking “are we there yet?” Two summers ago we drove up to Tahoe and my daughter wore a shirt that said “Road Trip” and on the back it said “Are We There Yet?” She was a pretty good traveler but I wish that I had this Vacation Journal that my friend Colleen created. What Type of Traveler Are You?
You know those vacations – the ones on a tropical island with nothing around but a white sandy beach, softly-swaying palm trees, and an ice-cold margarita while the crystal clear water gently ripples at your freshly-pedicured toes? Although I LOVE those types of family trips, they are definitely not the reality we have experienced since leaving the comforts of home and traveling full-time!! Instead, our travels include exploring amazing sights, from the crumbling and ancient to the sparkling new, learning about the local culture, trying new foods, getting lost with the locals in remote villages, having to struggle our way in a foreign language just to order a bottle of…

Disneyland’s 60th Diamond Celebration Starts May 22nd
Disneyland Diamond Celebration Begins! Every year we save up to get our Disneyland Season Passes because we love heading over there for an afternoon stroll after school or during holiday breaks. And it wouldn’t be (my) birthday celebration without spending the day there with my crew! It is such a magical place and every time I walk through the gates I immediately turn into my eight year old self. It is so exciting to hear they are celebrating their 60th Anniversary this year and boy, do they have a ton of fun activities planned! Hope you can stop by the park and enjoy the celebrations! Important Life Skills Kids (and Parents!) Learn While Traveling – Part 1
The initial motivations for my family’s around-the-world journey were that it would be an amazing chance to spend time together as a family and a great education for our kids. Yet, I could have never predicted all the invaluable life skills they would be learning along the way! Traveling has been, and continues to be, the best way to teach our children about life and about themselves – with new opportunities to learn everyday. Since there are so many benefits to traveling, I have had to separate them into several posts. Here are the first 4 groups of life skills kids learn while traveling and tips on how to embrace…
