A Grand Canyon Family Adventure
The Grand Canyon is a fantastic place for a family adventure. I was worried at first. My nature is to foresee the worst possible outcome and worry about it fanatically. So of course, I pictured my children tumbling over the edge. But thanks to my tight grip on tiny wrists we avoided that. It was in fact, one of my favorite vacations so far. We spent a week exploring Grand Canyon National Park in November. One of the great things about the Park is once you enter, you don’t really need to leave until you are ready to go. There are plenty of affordable places to eat within the…

Winter Fest 2016 :: A Magical Event at the OC Fair December 16 – January 1st.
Winter is indeed coming! That special time of the year when you cuddle up by the fireplace, sip hot chocolate, build loving memories with your families during the holidays, and build a snowman has finally arrived. Okay, maybe not so much the building a snowman part. For most of us Southern California natives, we know that there aren’t many places where we can actually get a true winter experience without taking a road trip up to the mountains. Our family loves to ski and last year enjoyed skiing at Mountain High over the winter break. Though we have no room to complain about our weather (it’s hot…

An Awesome and Affordable South African Safari – Addo Elephant Park
The highlight of my family’s one month trip to South Africa this spring was our self-drive safari in Addo Elephant Park. South Africa offers many different types of safaris throughout the country – from luxurious one week safaris to the one-day self-drive ones. Since we travel full-time on a budget, the idea of spending thousands of dollars on a week safari just wasn’t going to happen. We heard that the self-drive tours are still fantastic and at a fraction of the cost – and it was so true! AMAZING!! Since we were traveling along the southern coast of South Africa in an area called The Garden Route, we decided to try…

Save the Date: August 9th AIG Travel #WhereNext Twitter Party!
I am super excited to be working with AIG Travel this month and sharing with you all the many benefits of sustainable travel. Sustainable travel is the socially-responsible way families and solo-travelers are exploring new places. I wrote a piece about sustainable travel here you can check out but basically sustainable travel is about leaving a positive impact on the communities you visit. This could be something as simple as eating at local restaurants to support the business owners (think small businesses) as opposed to your favorite fast food joint to purchasing souvenirs that are handmade by locals opposed to trinkets made just for tourists. Join the…
