DIY: Scarecrow on a Stick
My son and I love to do these types of crafts. The arms and legs can move into fun poses and it’s on a stick so you can ‘plant’ them everywhere. The scarecrow is a favorite for our fall decor. You can find him between apples and pumpkins or pretty fall leaves. I have a pattern ready for you to download, print and color. You can add googly eyes, yarn for hair – be creative! Basic Scarecrow: You will need: 4 Brass Prong Paper File Fasteners card stock to print on scissors clear tape a stick markers, crayons, pencils Print out the Scarecrow template. New Krusteaz Cookie Mixes Make Clean Up a Breeze
I don’t know where in the world you are, but in Southern California it’s been hot. Thanks to the heat, I haven’t been turning my oven on to do much baking, but I recently got a package full of really good reasons to bake cookies. Krusteaz sent me a package full of cookie mixes to try, complete with one apron for myself and an apron for one of the kids, a potholder, a set of measuring spoons and a super-fun set of cookie cutters. Despite the heat, we’ve baked a few batches and we are really enjoying the deliciousness of the soft, chewy cookies. The box came full of different…

The Art of Letting Go
Yesterday I was reminded of what a tough job parents have and knowing when to hold our kids tight and knowing when to let them try new things. On the way back from visiting my brother in San Clemente we drove up the coast and stopped off at a beach that we use to spend a lot of time at when my husband and I were dating. My parents had rented a gorgeous home along the coast in Laguna Beach years ago and when I came back from living in Japan I stayed with them for a couple months. My husband and I have been good friends since high school…

Latest & Greatest :: Numb Chucks : Kung Fu App
Does your family like quirky shows? Have you heard of Numb Chucks? It originated in Canada on YTV and premiered on January 7, 2014. The show is targeted at 6-11 year olds, and airs in Canada and on Cartoon Networks’ Boomerang in the US. An animated comedy series, Numb Chucks focuses on two well-intentioned but incompetent woodchucks, Dillweed and Fungus, who try to use kung fu to protect their hometown from criminals. My daughter says her favorite character is Master Sensei because he is so funny. We tend to enjoy the more quirky shows like PBS Kids ODD SQUAD and Cartoon Networks The Amazing World of Gumball. This crazy duo, Dillweed…

Shaun the Sheep Review, Craft Ideas and Giveaway
Lately my daughter has been very interested in making stop-motion videos. She has been using her Minecraft characters to make these short clips using the LEGO Video App. I’ll have to post one of her video’s! She loves to show off her work to us and I think it is great that she is being creative. When we heard that the stop-motion animated television series Shaun the Sheep was coming out with a movie we couldn’t wait to go see it! The British series features Shaun and is a spin-off of the Wallace and Gromit franchise. After school on Friday we headed to our favorite local theater and watched it. …
