Latest & Greatest :: Standing Up by Director D.J. Caruso

    August 23, 2013 /

Did you know that more than 160,000 U.S. students stay home from school each day from fear of being bullied?  (Source: Pacer.org)  Just this week while waiting in my dentists office, I read two headlines on the cover of People about two young girls who committed suicide due to bullying at school.  It broke my heart to see two young girl’s faces whose lives were cut short by something as useless and cruel as bullying.  When I was in 3rd grade there were a group of girls who thought it was fun to start picking on me until it escalated to where I asked my mom if I could switch schools.  Luckily,…

Spotlight On :: Stuck On You – Just in Time for Back-To-School!

    August 15, 2013 /

Some of the sweetest moments for me as a mom is making my daughter’s lunch in the morning and helping to get her ready for school.  We will go over her wardrobe choices (I try to give her at least two choices) and have her pick what she wants to wear for the day.  These are simple acts but ones that I know when she is grown and out of the house I will look back on fondly.  Don’t get me wrong – there are some mornings when I am pulling my hair out trying to get her lunch and homework finished and packed,, pets feed, etc., etc., but I…

Disney-Pixar’s Monster’s, Inc., Storybook Review and Giveaway

    December 21, 2012 /

In our home library of movies Monsters, Inc., is one of our favorite movies that we watch over and over again.  We are very excited about the sequel coming out this summer! I just love the idea that monsters are afraid of children and we just  love Sullivan and Mike!  This week Disney-Pixar re-released their hit animated feature Monsters, Inc., in 3D, and are now offering Monsters, Inc. Storybook Deluxe for the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch and even iPad mini.   In the app, kids join Sulley and Mike on their quest to return Boo back to her home, while also trying to keep her out of sight of course. The app features the original character voices…

    Award-Winning Toy Company Skullduggery Giveaway

    December 13, 2012 /

How often do we see the statement MADE IN THE USA on products these days?  That is one of the things that really stood out to me about this next company we are featuring.  Skullduggery is a family-owned business run by brothers Steve and Peter, and their father, Pete Koehl, have been manufacturing fossil replicas, craft kits, and toys in the United States since 1987.  When I spoke to Steve, the President of the company last week, he explained that both is sister and mom have worked in the company in some capacity.  So this really is a family-run business with quality products!  This week I had a chance to…
