    Crafts :: Super Cute DIY Flower Box

    May 10, 2016 /

      I love to give handmade gifts and if I end up buying gifts then the wrapping should have a handmade touch. I will show you how I transformed this ordinary papermache box found at Michaels into a super cute box, pretty enough that you will want to keep it. Materials needed: a box of your size and liking some silk or paper flowers and ribbon hot glue gun and scissors acrylic paint old cookie sheet or similar flat service (i don’t use my cookie sheet in the kitchen anymore)   I had my box and an assortment of flowers to choose from: This was my lid.  I wanted a flower that…

    Crafts :: The Giving Plate

    November 18, 2015 /

    Thanksgiving is a week away and to avoid last minute shopping for gifts I am baking cookies to fill my giving plates. I love this original handmade gift for sharing life’s special moments with those closest to your heart. With the holiday season upon us, the Giving Plate is perfect for creating your own traditions while reflecting on the meaning of the special time you spend with those you love. Take turns with the Giving Plate—give it to Mom or Grandma even a friend—and maybe you will receive it back, a special reminder of one another. You will need: Craftsmart paint pens (ideal for wood, plastic, metal and glass) I found…

    The Perfect Gift for Father’s Day!

    June 15, 2015 /

      Last week my daughter’s teacher gave this adorable succulent gift to the volunteer’s that helped out this year.  She had  all the children sign the glass vase with their names. I thought this would make the perfect Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Grandparent’s Day and yes, Teacher Appreciation Day gift!  For Father’s Day – you can have your kids write Happy Father’s Day and then have them sign it.  Or whatever strikes your fancy!  A favorite quote perhaps? This gift really touched my heart and I know that I will treasure it always!  Right now it is sitting next to my computer. She said she used succulent’s from her mother’s garden and made about 20 of them.  Personalized gifts…

    DIY Woven Wall Hanging

    December 20, 2014 /

      This is a wonderful project for adults and kids to try. It is easy and fun and you can find stuff in and around your house to use. My son, Ruan, made a very cute one for his teacher as her holiday gift this year. You will need: some yarn and/or fabric cardboard box a stick, twig or driftwood ruler, pencil and scissors Cut a piece of cardboard box. The one I used is 5 x 7. Measure half inch marks on the box. Cut slits approximately 3/4 inch deep. Use yarn as your base and start by adding the yarn though the slits you just cut. Leave a…

         DIY Beautiful Handmade Stick Ornaments: This is the season of giving and special one of a kind things always catches my eye. I love handmade gifts. I make most of my presents or attach something handmade to the box. In my opinion, anything can be turned into art.
