Celebrating Families this Holiday Season
Some of you might know about our family’s difficulty conceiving years ago and were told that the only way I would get pregnant was if I went through months of fertility drugs and artificial insemination due to hormonal issues I was having at the time. Since my mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at a young age (48), I wasn’t too keen on disrupting my hormones with drugs. Hearing those words in the doctors office was very painful and I remember feeling like I was somehow failing – myself and my husband. I think feeling this way is pretty normal when you are told you cannot have a child naturally and…

Taste of Nature Bars are a Healthy Snack for Kids and Moms
According to a recent national survey conducted by Kelton and sponsored by Taste of Nature, nearly all (98%) Americans snack, but nine in ten (85%) admit they find healthy snacking to be difficult. Americans struggle to find a balance between what tastes good and what’s good for them. Taste is the top consideration when making a snack choice (73%), which is more important than convenience (54%) or accessibility (35%). What’s more, half (50%) say that healthy snacking is so difficult because it is hard to find a healthy snack that tastes good. (Source: PR January 2014). Wellness :: Healthy and Easy Snacks for Kids
When it comes time for snacks it is easy to go for the prepackaged things. Things like chips, sodas, and candy always seem to be on hand when snack time rolls around. However these items are not only unhealthy for children now but can lead to a lifetime of bad eating habits later. Instead, make snack time healthy and easy with these simple, kid friendly snack ideas: Animal Crackers – While animal crackers are not my favorite snack, kids seem to love the bland flavor. I love the fact that they are low in fat and very filling. To tell you the truth I think kids like them mostly…

Recipes :: 5 Easy and Fun Snacks for School
It has been interesting to see what my daughter actually eats from the lunch I pack her for school. Some days she will eat everything and on other days, I find she made a trip to the cafeteria for a somewhat healthy treat. A few weeks ago, she ran up to me at pickup and apologized for not eating the sandwich I packed her. In her words “Mom, I am very sorry I didn’t eat the lunch you packed me, but on accident, I went into the cafeteria and somehow a box of Coco Puffs fell onto my tray and I also grabbed some milk. Oh! Did you know that when you…
