Grape Salad :: The Perfect Potluck Dish
We received some yummy red and green muscato grapes from Melissa’s Produce this week and I searched for a recipe that called for grapes and found the perfect potluck dish ever… The Grape Salad. If you are from the Midwest you probably know all about this delicious and creamy grape salad dish! And after trying it, I can say that us folks on the West Coast have been missing out – big time. With a mixture of cream cheese, sour cream, sugar, vanilla bean extract with a sprinkle of brown sugar and pecans – this is basically a cheesecake fruit salad. Taste of Nature Bars are a Healthy Snack for Kids and Moms
According to a recent national survey conducted by Kelton and sponsored by Taste of Nature, nearly all (98%) Americans snack, but nine in ten (85%) admit they find healthy snacking to be difficult. Americans struggle to find a balance between what tastes good and what’s good for them. Taste is the top consideration when making a snack choice (73%), which is more important than convenience (54%) or accessibility (35%). What’s more, half (50%) say that healthy snacking is so difficult because it is hard to find a healthy snack that tastes good. (Source: PR January 2014). Recipes :: 5 Easy Summer Treats
Nothing says summer quite like eating fresh watermelon at the pool or beach. As kids, my younger brother and I would sit outside our front porch and go through a whole watermelon between the two of us! I can’t seem to get enough of it this summer and recently learned that it has moved up to the front line in recent research studies on high-lycopene foods. You have probably heard about Lycopene as it is a carotenoid phytonutrient important for cardiovascular health. This week I found some healthy fruit treats that you can feel good about serving to your kids and not have to worry about grumpy sugar crashes. You can even get the kids involved to…

Banana Pumpkin Spelt Bread
Banana Pumpkin Spelt Bread I frequently make banana bread for my family because I feel better giving this as a snack to my children rather than a packaged granola bar or other processed food. The problem is our household of five consumes so many bananas that few ever make it to that over-ripe stage necessary for great banana bread. I have since learned to buy extra bananas at the store. I then hide three of them from my little monkeys and their monkey daddy so they may achieve their spotty brown stage for this scrumptious quick bread. Many banana and pumpkin breads call for large amounts of oil…
