Project Kindness :: Homelessness in America
Recently, I have been driving into Los Angeles a few times a month for work. When I am driving through Beverly Hills (ooh la la) or Downtown Los Angeles, I see several homeless people standing near the embankment before the freeway entrance asking for help. Since I am notorious for never carrying cash on me, I always feel bad that I don’t have anything to give them. I have spoken with my daughter about how we don’t know what they have had to face or overcome in their lives, so it is best to help them whenever we can. She is so sweet and seems to understand the concept of giving back as she will always…

Reflections :: Finding Peace Within
Image courtesy of Flickr Where inspiration is derived is as diverse as the individuals who seek it. I found mine in Denver, Colorado at Warren Church. It is a small church in an old but beautiful area of Denver where the streets are lined with quaint houses and a large park nearby. The congregation there have little in common other than their faith. In 2012, I found myself unable to work due to health issues. I applied for Social Security which took a very long two years to receive. During this process, I lost my home, my car and many of my belongings. It was a very dark…

Dandelion Moms Project Kindness for May :: Honoring Ryan
Today I read about a family who is going through every parents worse nightmare. A fellow mom blogger (@babyboybakery) lost her beautiful son this past Friday night in a senseless accident. You can read more about it here but from what I gather, 3 1/2 year old Ryan was playing Frisbee in front of a relative’s house and ran into the street chasing after it. A truck was driving by at that moment and a horrible accident happened in a blink of an eye. Jacqui and her husband are having to go through what no parent should go through. It is senseless and just so sad. I wanted to…

Look Good Feel Better Helps Women With Cancer
Each month I look for programs to help support by featuring them in our monthly dandelion moms Project Kindness and asking our lovely moms to help in any way they can. Together, our community has raised donations – monetary and items for the Project Night Night Tote Bags, hundreds of children’s books to a new library in the Dominican Republic and so many other wonderful acts of kindness that have been far-reaching. This month I have been looking for a project to support and just came across a wonderful organization called Look Good Feel Better that is working hard to help support women who are fighting breast cancer. Just within the past…

Musings :: “I Like You” – Words that Heal
Last week, really this whole month has been so crazy for us as I am sure it has been for most families. It seems like we have been going from one event to the next. I was telling my husband last week that most of the moms I see and talk to at drop-off look like they are feeling the stress of the holidays as well. Tis the season I guess! But among all this hustle and bustle, my daughter did something that made me stop and think about what the holidays are really about. They shouldn’t be about being too stressed to enjoy this season of joy and hope. …
