Saving Money Over the Holidays (it is possible)

    December 11, 2015 /

Photo credit: BMB Photography I love a good deal.  I think that is why I tend to do my holiday shopping throughout the year.  If I find something on sale that I think a family member or friend might like, and it is on sale, I get super happy.  I love finding just the perfect gift and when it is discounted – even better.  This also goes for shopping for our family’s essentials like paper products (paper towels, napkins, paper cups, etc.), personal products and cleaning supplies.  When you buy everyday essentials in bulk it can save your family a lot of money throughout the year. This holiday season, Sam’s Club is helping shoppers maximize every dollar…

PBS Kids and Overstock Partner to Create Kid Zone

    November 22, 2014 /

OVERSTOCK.COM PARTNERS WITH PBS KIDS TO SERVE THE UNIQUE NEEDS OF CHILDREN THROUGH LAUNCH OF OVERSTOCK KID ZONE   This week, Overstock.com and PBS KIDS announced a new cause partnership and the launch of Overstock’s new Kid Zone, a curated shop within Overstock that includes thousands of children’s products. Overstock will give a portion of proceeds from every sale in the Kid Zone to support the mission of PBS KIDS, to open a world of possibilities for every child and ignite a passion for learning.  I have been fan of Overstock since it first came on the scene in the late 1999’s.  Over the years I have purchase so…

The Mini Boden Fall Clothing Line is Perfect Anytime

    November 17, 2014 /

Images courtesy of Photographer Beatta Bosworth.   We had a chance to try out some of Mini Boden’s Fall Clothing Line this past week with a photo shoot of my daughter and two of her best buddies who she has grown up with since she was 18 months old.  They had a blast modeling for us and I love how Mini Boden clothes are great for anytime and for any event.  They have a great selection of play clothes that will stand the test of time. Another bonus is if you have a couple children, they can be passed along and hand-me-downs won’t feel so much like hand-me-downs!  That is one of…

    5 Holiday Shopping Don’ts

    November 15, 2014 /

Image courtesy of Flickr Black Friday is still two weeks away but the holiday shopping season is already underway as retailers begin pushing early-bird doorbusters. Recently, I came across advertisements promoting ”Black Friday Prices Now” at Home Depot offering huge savings on appliances and “Black Friday Liquidation” deals at Overstock.com on jewelry, gadgets and more. Though the recent flurry of sales certainly helps you save money on gifts and other holiday needs, being bombarded by an overwhelming number of tempting discounts when you’re not prepared can lead to bad buying decisions.. Before you get seduced by all the pre-holiday sales, study up on these shopping don’ts to prep your shopping strategy and…

How To Stay On Budget This Holiday Season

    December 5, 2012 /

How To Stay On Budget This Holiday Season  I know I said that we would start to look at home-based business bookkeeping systems, but I’d like to take a quick break and talk about the holidays.  This is a very stressful time for most people.  One of the biggest stressors is the cost.  So, how can you get what you need and still stay on budget?  I have a few ideas: Make a List!  First, make a list (I love lists) of all of the people you need to purchase gifts for.  Next, make a list of other things you need to buy.  Do you need or want any…
