    Tips for Buying and Displaying Art in Your Home

    July 1, 2018 /

      Images courtesy of Fenton and Fenton. When I think back to the type of art I grew up around I realize that my parents would usually hang abstract images.  Nothing too fancy, they definitely weren’t art collectors, but when I came across two pieces on eBay, my parents owned I understood that my attraction to abstract work stems from way back when.  But don’t get me wrong, I love art in all it’s forms!  Art really does help finish a home. Spend a little time finding out what you love to see everyday and  brings you joy.  Here are some tips for decorating your home with art and best…

    7 Entryway Design Tips and Ideas

    May 28, 2018 /

    1). Landing Spot.  This could be a console table, bench or a Japanese Tansu or even dress of drawers.  Figure out how much space you have in this area and go from there.   2). Storage.  We store our dog’s lease, keys and knick knacks in a felt IKEA basket I found a few months back.  At the time I wasn’t sure what I was going to use it for but I love the contrast with the Japanese Tansu. Think about what you plan to use it for and buy the size you need.  IKEA has a ton of containers on the cheap! 3). Seating.  I found this cute felt…

    Dwell :: Decorating with Flowers

    March 20, 2017 /

        Last month I picked up Holly Becker and Leslie Shewring’s book “Decorate with Flowers” at our local Marshalls.  You all know how much I love that place right?!  I find the best finds – from dresses to home goods and this book has inspired me in so many ways!  I just love having flowers around the house and it just doesn’t look finished unless I have at least one display of flowers on either the kitchen table or counter-top.  But don’t worry, these ideas they offer don’t need to cost you an arm and a leg!  You can find inexpensive flowers at your grocery story, wholesale florist (I…

    Dwell :: Decorating with Aqua, Teal and Turquoise

    January 13, 2017 /

        Colors can evoke such emotion in one don’t you think?  I have loved aqua, teal and turquoise for many years now and it is quite apparent since you will find these colors in pretty much every room in our house!  I was curious about the difference between the three as they can be mistaken for each other sometimes so here is a color chart.  These colors can be used in just about any style home but it does remind you a bit of mid-century design.  If you watched Mad Men you know what I mean!  You will find these colors in pretty much all the decor throughout the series.…

    Gorgeous DIY Succulent Pumpkin Planters

    November 17, 2016 /

          I honestly love pumpkin season, the smells and the flavors. This cute pumpkin succulent arrangement immediately turns your house into fall season. It also makes a great gift. If you need to pot it, just gently pull of the succulents and plant them in your favorite pot.     I like to have a selection of different succulents. Definitely look for the little baby flower like succulents but also look for longer ‘flatter’ plants. Spread them out and sort them so you can clearly see what you have.     I use moss…
