A Must See Film – The Last Word Out in Theaters March 3rd!

    March 3, 2017 /

In The Last Word, Shirley MacLaine is Harriet Lauler, a once successful businesswoman in tight control of every aspect of her life. As she reflects upon her accomplishment, she’s suddenly inspired to engage a young local writer, Anne Sherman (Amanda Seyfried), to pen her life’s story. When the initial result doesn’t meet Harriet’s high expectations, she sets out to reshape the way she is remembered, with Anne dragged along as an unwilling accomplice. As the journey unfolds, the two women develop a unique bond which alters not only Harriet’s legacy, but also Anne’s future.   Shirley MacClaine’s character, Harriet Lauler shows that we can change our legacy anytime…

The Animation Research Library Conserves Walt Disney Animation Studios Artistic Heritage

    March 1, 2017 /

Last month I had a chance to to visit the Animation Research Library (ARL), formerly known as the Studio Morgue.  The ARL is entrusted to conserve and protect the artistic heritage of Walt Disney Animation Studios and to ensure the ability of the Walt Disney Company to utilize the collection, “in-house,” as a resource of creative inspiration, brand enhancement, and product development.         I was so excited to meet JB Kaufman, film historian and author of several books including PINCOCCHIO The Making of the Disney Epic (see giveaway below!).  My daughter’s class had put together some questions for him that I asked during our group interview.…

Family :: Tips for Making TV Night Extra Special

    March 1, 2017 /

Sneaking in a snack after 9 pm. “Helping” your kids with their school projects. Googling answers on family game night. We’ve all cheated. In fact, 46% of viewers are cheating right now—with their favorite Netflix shows. And it’s not just parents who are culprits of the crime, cheaters come in all sizes, so even the littlest ones can’t be trusted. I’ve been known to possibly sneak a bite (or two) of cake or chocolate when the kid isn’t looking (and I am sure she’s done the same!).  And when it comes to watching certain shows such as Stranger Things I wait until she is in bed.  Sometimes its nice to…

Pfizer Pediatric Products and 20th Century Fox help you through those Sick just got real™ moments!

    February 16, 2017 /

When your little one is home sick, you’ll try anything you can to get them through their days with ease. You may have a sick day remedy or a simple item for comfort that helps ease those aches and pains. Whatever your sick day survival kit consists of, we’re sure it also includes a comfy couch and a good movie, because sometimes laughing can also help you feel better. When my daughter isn’t feeling well, we select one of her favorite movies, provide lots water and popsicles (great way to making sure they stay hydrated!) and snuggle on the sofa – or in this case on the floor with our…

Host a GALentine’s Day Party for your best galpals!

    February 10, 2017 /

A few weeks back I hosted a GALentine’s Day party for some girlfriends in conjunction with Disney for the Blu-ray release of The Light Between Oceans.  It got me thinking about how important it is to show the women in my life how much they mean to me.  These friendships have helped me through some good times and bad.  So why not show some love to the friends in your life and throw a little get-together.  Here are some tips for celebrating the friendships in your life.       Treat Yo’ Self: Treating myself includes hiring a cleaning crew to get the house ready before a party.…
