The real-life story of one working wife and mother who became a hero to hundreds during World War II. In 1939 Poland, Antonina Żabińska (portrayed by two-time Academy Award nominee Jessica Chastain) and her husband, Dr. Jan Żabiński (Johan Heldenbergh of “The Broken Circle Breakdown”), have the Warsaw Zoo flourishing under his stewardship and her care. Nature Lovers! Check out Spy in the Wild, A NATURE Miniseries Wednesdays on PBS

    February 22, 2017 /

Rarely Seen Animal Behavior Captured in Spy in the Wild, A NATURE Miniseries Wednesdays, February 1 – March 1, 2017 on PBS   From the producers of Earthflight and Penguins: Spy in the Huddle   In the most innovative production Nature has ever presented, this five-part series employs more than 30 animatronic spy cameras disguised as animals to secretly record behavior in the wild. Start Walking and Reclaim Your Mind and Body

    July 17, 2016 /

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.”                         ~ Albert Einstein A few months ago I decided to take time out for myself and get back in shape. I was SO over carrying this extra weight I gained from my neck injury and taking steroids (it is a real thing people) and I wanted to find a form of exercise that would fit into my busy lifestyle.  Heck, we are all too busy these days, but finding time to take care of our body is so very important. I think many times…

Travel :: A Lesson In The Desert

    May 27, 2016 /

The Joshua tree is commonly found in the Mojave Desert, the Sonoran Desert, and some areas of the San Bernardino Mountains. Native Americans used the rough leaves of this tree to weave baskets and sandals, and ate the flower buds and seeds.  Unlike other trees, Joshua trees have no rings so we are unable to accurately determine their age. They may grow quickly through the first five years if the conditions are right, but the average Joshua tree grows only ½ to 3 inches per year. Out in the desert, insects, birds, reptiles, and small mammals make homes out of the majestic Joshua tree.   National Park Service celebrates…

Whether in your home, garden or traveling, here are tips for surviving mosquito season!

    April 22, 2016 /

Just the other day I was talking to a friend about how mosquitos LOVE me!  No joke, if I am with a big group of people, guess who gets eaten alive?  Yep!  Not sure exactly what attracts mosquitos to one person more than another but I hope to find out after taking the Orkin’s “Buzzer Beater” blog app.  During my travels through Vietnam and Thailand many moons ago, I use to have to slather on tons of mosquito repellant but really to no avail.  It didn’t really matter what I put on, they’d find the areas I’d not reached and have a little feast.  Do you have the same…
