    Bonding Over Old-School Classics

    June 5, 2015 /

Image found on awn My younger brother and I couldn’t wait for Saturday cartoons and our morning would usually start around 6:30 am, him in his Superhero Underoo’s (remember those?), our cereal bowls filled with Fruity Pebbles or Lucky Charms (our favorites) and we would watch cartoons until about noon.  It is great sharing these old school cartoons and movies with my daughter. I think part of the appeal for parents to share toys, TV shows and movies they grew up with is to show our kids that we were kids once too!  And I think it lets us go down memory lane to a time of childhood wonder. There’s something pretty awesome…

Parenting :: Tips for Celebrating Mini-Milestones

    October 6, 2014 /

As we get older, milestones are few and far between. Landing our dream job, getting married, having a baby. But kids, on the other hand, are just starting to reach large and mini-milestones! From bringing home their first pet to going to their first high school dance, frame-worthy moments go far beyond the baby book.  I still can remember the first day of high school like it was yesterday – and even what I wore!  Many of these mini-milestones stick with you for years to come.  Like my first dance in junior high.  I went with one of the cutest boys in school (at least I thought so… and most of the girls did too). …

Netflix Titles, Crafts and Recipes to Promote Kindness and Acceptance

    August 12, 2014 /

A Little Kindness Never Gets Old.  That is the catch-phrase of the Netflix original series, Derek, staring Ricky Gervais, an English nursing home caretaker who only sees the good in people.  Wouldn’t life be easier if we all had this sunny disposition and saw only the good?!  This month as we are preparing our children for returning to school, Netflix took a cue from Derek and compiled a list of titles that help teach our kids about kindness and acceptance.  Derek’s mantra of acceptance, no matter age or ability inspired their list of titles that provide a great resource for parents to remind their kids about seeing the good in others. …

    February 9, 2014 /

Things to Do When the Kids are Sick

    January 10, 2014 /

Image courtesy of Flickr   About a week before Christmas, my daughter and I caught that cold that is going around and were in bed for about two days.  Of course, she recovered in no time and I was feeling bad for over a week.  I sure wish I had her little immune system!  We literally spent the two days in bed recovering watching movies.  Thank goodness for Netflix and their huge array of movie options that is for sure!  If you find yourself or your family sick in bed – here are is a list of movie options that Netflix put together for families to enjoy.  Plus they provided us with some…
