Presents – How Much is Too Much?

    December 2, 2012 /

Can you believe Christmas is around the corner and the silly season is nearly upon us? Amongst all the feasting on rich food, indulging in plum pudding and hanging out with extended family, there’s the inevitable mountain load of new presents for the kids. It’s got me thinking lately, how much stuff do our kids really need? Deciding how many presents to give can be tricky. Most people would agree that kids today receive far more presents than we did when we were young. We love to see our kids’ faces light up when they receive what they wanted, but we don’t want them to develop an entitlement behavior…

    Feng Shui in the Garden

    November 21, 2012 /

The garden is a wonderful place to introduce feng shui principles. Here you can create a tranquil oasis of peace and calm, and boost the overall feng shui of your home. There are a few key features to keep in mind when incorporating feng shui into your garden design. Houses are usually made of straight lines, so in the garden you can introduce soft, flowing shapes and curves. Paths or driveways should be gently curved to allow chi (or positive energy) to flow smoothy. If you do have a perfectly straight driveway you can soften the edges by planting shrubs or flowers. Feng shui is always concerned with balance.…

Comfort Food: One Pot Sausage Casserole

    November 4, 2012 /

Sometimes we all need comfort food. Hearty, warm and satisfying, it’s easy to make and easy to eat. When the nights get cold and it’s dark outside I love to make this one pot sausage casserole.   1 onion diced 2 cloves garlic finely diced 200g bacon 8 sausages ¼ cup white wine 1 celery stick 1 carrot 1 cup mushrooms 1 punnet cherry tomatoes 1 can diced tomatoes     Fry onions and garlic in olive oil. Add diced bacon and sausages and fry gently until cooked through. Add the white wine and stir. Slice carrot, celery, and mushrooms and add to the pan. Add cherry tomatoes, canned tomatoes…

    Vitality: Feel Healthy, Feel Great

    October 19, 2012 /

We all want to have vitality and feel bright and energized each day.  But in today’s modern lifestyle we are so busy juggling different projects, home lives, children, and work commitments that it’s easy to become fatigued and overwhelmed at times. Luckily there are a few things we can do to help get back that zing and feel vibrant again.   Get more sleep. It might sound obvious but studies reveal that a worryingly large proportion of adults are not getting enough sleep. Getting a good night’s sleep is important for our heart, mind and wellbeing. Think about how wretched you feel after a bad night’s sleep, and…

    Tips to De-clutter and De-stress

    October 6, 2012 /

Are you familiar with this situation? You would like to have a clutter free home but you just have so much stuff. It would take ages to sort through everything and you just don’t have the time. So you leave it until you have time ‘one day’, and in the meantime the amount of things you have just keeps on growing, and the job becomes larger and larger.   If you want to get on top of clutter you have to be ruthless and firm, pack your sentimentality away, visualize the beautiful room you want, then go ahead and get it! Here I share with you some top tips for…

    Feng Shui For Your Home

    September 21, 2012 /

Image: Flickr   Have you ever walked into a home before and immediately liked it? Perhaps it was light, bright and airy? It was welcoming and comfortable, and you felt great while you were there.  You could say this house has good feng shui. If you haven’t heard of this term before, in Chinese it means ‘wind and water’. Feng shui (pronounced foong shway) is the ancient Chinese practice of arranging the layout of your home to promote happiness, harmony and wellbeing. And the great thing about feng shui is that it doesn’t require a drastic rearrangement of your home, often just moving a few pieces of furniture around, placing…
