The Call of the Wild in theaters 2/21

    February 21, 2020 /

Twentieth Century Studios’ “The Call of the Wild,” adapted from the novel by Jack London, vividly brings to the screen the story of Buck, a big-hearted dog whose blissful domestic life is turned upside down when he is suddenly uprooted from his California home and transplanted to the exotic wilds of the Canadian Yukon during the Gold Rush of the 1890s. As the newest rookie on a mail delivery dog sled team–and later its leader–Buck experiences the adventure of a lifetime, ultimately finding his true place in the world and becoming his own master. As a live-action/animation hybrid, “The Call of the Wild” employs visual effects and animation technology to…

    Blueberry and Lemon Pancakes

    February 4, 2020 /

Recently I picked up a 1953 edition of The Joy of Cooking at a local estate sale. I love that it is so well-loved and that the previous owner (a Norwegian woman) wrote notes throughout and added tabs of her favorite recipes. I’m trying to tap into Julia Child and attempt various recipes from this tried-and-true recipe book! Melissa’s Produce sent me some of their delicious strawberries, blueberries and raspberries along with ready-made crepes and dessert sauces. For Valentine’s Day why not serve some pipping hot blueberry pancakes and the gang can add the dessert sauce of their choice! Don’t forget to have some Grade A maple syrup on hand…

Brown Butter & Lemon Brussels Sprouts

    January 23, 2020 /

These days I’ve been on the hunt for really simple dishes that I can put together in no time flat. I try to have the family “eat the rainbow” and these petite purple Brussels sprouts from Melissa’s Produce are too darn cute – and tasty! They look even gorgeous in person and would add some color to any dish! This brown butter lemon recipe is amazing and literally took me five minutes to put together. Health Benefits Brussels sprouts boast high levels of many nutrients and have been linked to several health benefits. Brussels Sprouts are really high in Vitamin C which is so important, especially around flu season. They…

Travel :: A Visit to Idyllwild

    March 7, 2019 /

Recently I had a chance to participate in a media trip with ConnectHER Media and visit the lovely town of Idyllwild.  This was my first time visiting this cute mountain town and I have to say I came away this past week dying to bring my family for a visit as I know they would love the scenery and amazing restaurants.  It is such a gorgeous city and one of the mom’s who helped organize the trip said it hasn’t changed much in the 25 plus years she and her family has visited.  Idyllwild’s visitor center describes the city perfectly.       Idyllwild is a nature-lovers oasis located…
