Whole Foods and PBS Kids Promote Healthy Eating
After my health scare this past year, I was reminded of how important it is to be in good health. It really is the foundation to living a full and vibrant life! Especially if you have young children, you want to teach them the importance of making good food choices to ensure they grow up appreciating and taking care of their own health. So I was happy to hear that Whole Foods Market and PBS Kids have partnered up to offer families tools that support healthy eating. They offer FREE resources, including materials from their newest preschool series, PEG + CAT, which focuses on preschool math and…

Labor Day is Neighbor Day on PBS Kids Daniel Tiger
One of the things I am most passionate about is helping to spread more kindness into the world! Like the seeds of a dandelion, you can never know how an act of kindness will change or affect someone’s life. That is one of the reason we created the dandelion moms project kindness and feature individuals and companies helping to spread kindness and good deeds towards others and how our lovely dandelion moms can help. That is why I am so excited to tell you about PBS Kids Daniel Tiger episode that airs tomorrow, Labor Day, that teaches children about kindness towards their neighbors. Anything that encourages our kids to treat others the…

Inspirational Mom :: WordGirl Creator Dorothea Gillim
I love how life can be so serendipitous (a word you would find on WordGirl). While walking to breakfast at the PBS annual meeting that I attended this month as part of their PBS Kids Ambassador Program, I happened to be walking next to a woman who was also going to breakfast. We started talking and turns out she is the Executive Producer of Curious George but she explained that her “baby” is WordGirl. I literally stopped in my tracks as we are big fans of WordGirl! I told her how my sister-in-law dressed up my niece as Captain Huggyface and her older daughter as WordGirl one year for Halloween. It was…

Introducing the new Sesame Street Character :: Mando!
©2013 Sesame Workshop. All rights reserved. Many of us grew up watching Grover, Cookie Monster and Big Bird and have fond memories of Sesame Street. I love that my daughter enjoys watching this quality and educational program and we can laugh together at Cookie Monster’s antics! Sesame Street was conceived in 1966, and was first aired on public broadcasting television stations November 10, 1969, and will celebrate it’s 44th season this coming September. The history of Sesame Street has reflected changing attitudes to developmental psychology, early childhood education and cultural diversity. Featuring Jim Henson’s Muppets, animation, live shorts, humor and celebrity appearances, it was the first television program of its kind…

PBS Kids WordGirl vs. The Energy Monster Review and Giveaway
We are big fans of the PBS Kids Emmy Award-Winning WordGirl and just love her side kick, Huggy Face. My daughter and I will watch it together and I like that she will learn new words and is taught how to use them in sentences. She is always asking me the meaning of words and I think part of this curiosity can be traced back to this program. PBS Kids is releasing “WORDGIRL VS. THE ENERGY MONSTER” on DVD May 14th. “WordGirl®” follows the life and super hero adventures of WordGirl as she fights crime and enriches vocabulary usage. In this new DVD, which includes three fun-filled learning adventures, WordGirl and her sidekick…

Confession :: Not a Fan of Flying
Confession :: Not a Fan of Flying! Next week I will be flying out for the PBS Kids annual meeting in Miami, Florida as part of their PBS Kids VIP Ambassador Program. Recently, they asked me if I would like to become a member of this group and as many of you know, I love PBS Kids! Their programs are rich with great characters and quite educational such as Word Girl (love her sidekick monkey Captain Huggyface) and Wild Kratts: Creature Power. So off I go to Miami (minus a pink bikini – yes, I have an image of Miami in my head) to spend a few days with the folks who…
