Last year at the PBS annual meeting we learned about a new series, READY JET GO! that focuses on astronomy, technology, scientific exploration, innovation and invention. The show premieres this Monday, February 15 on PBS stations nationwide. Seen through the eyes of Jet Propulsion and his family, we see what it is like to be an alien from outer space, the whole while learning about our solar system, how it affects our planet and features live-action interstitials with Jet Propulsion Laboratory astrophysicist Dr. Amy Mainzer, who is also a science curriculum consultant for the series. The “Game Over” Initiative Empowers Kids to Prevent Distracted Driving
There is a new initiative out that encourages safe driving without any distractions. I make a conscious effort to put my phone away in my purse so I don’t get distracted – it really isn’t worth it! The Connecticut Department of Transportation‘s Governor’s Highway Safety Program and public media producer WGBH have teamed up to launch “Game Over,” a safe driving initiative that empowers kids to prevent distracted driving, with the help of a beloved animated PBS KIDS character, Ruff Ruffman. PBS Kids Nature Cat Encourages Kids to Explore the Great Outdoors
PBS KIDS debuted a one-hour special of NATURE CAT last Monday but the special will repeat throughout the week of January 18 and will be available for free on both the series site and on the PBS KIDS Video App, which is accessible on a variety of mobile devices and on platforms such as Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire, Xbox One and Chromecast. This one-hour special will feature four all-new 11-minute stories featuring the beloved characters from the network’s newest series. PBS Kids Nature Cat Encourages Outdoor Exploration
Last May at the PBS annual meeting we heard about a new PBS Kids show called Nature Cat that premieres tomorrow November 25th, after the first hour-long WILD KRATTS holiday special, “Creature Christmas.” Nature Cat is geared towards children ages 3-8 and is designed to encourage children to explore and develop connections with the natural world. The show was created by the very talented Rudman brothers, David Rudman (“Cookie Monster” and “Baby Bear” on Sesame Street; “Scooter” and “Janice” on The Muppets) and Adam Rudman (Tom & Jerry, Sesame Street, Cyberchase).
