Apps with Curriculum Facebook Party! This month we are hosting another fun Facebook Party featuring PicPocket Books Apps with Curriculum, Cyndie Sebourn of Sascyn Publishing and other participating developers who are part of the Apps with Curriculum program. PicPocket Books has created a separate library on their website of apps that include a common core standard aligned reading activity. Cyndie Sebourn, a retired teacher has created Apps With Curriculum, www.appswithcurriculum.com, an educational technology service to develop Common Core-aligned lesson plans for book app developers. Celebrate Dr. Seuss Read Across America!
One of my favorite things about being a children’s author is reading to a classroom full of kids! I just love to see their faces light up when we get to an exciting part of the story. Recent studies show that reading to a child up to age 5 is a positive predictor for literacy in later years. (Source: National Early Literacy Report). In May 1997, a small reading task force at The National Education Association (NEA) wanted to get kids excited about reading. Penelope’s 2nd Birthday Facebook Party
We are so excited to be celebrating Penelope’s 2nd birthday this coming Thursday, the 24th. The journey to create a children’s book from an idea that came to me while my husband was telling my daughter about Red Beard and his adventures on the high seas has been one filled with ups and downs. It isn’t easy to go after your dreams but I truly believe just about anything is possible if you believe you can do it!
