Join Our Dandelion Moms Annual #GivingTuesday Event
Each month the dandelion moms Project Kindness supports organizations and individuals helping to make the world a better place. For the month of December we want to show support to the United Nations #GivingTuesday event that happens the first week of December by supporting two local women and children’s shelters and providing all the Project Night Night bags they might need for the holiday season. We would love for you to join us and participate in this year’s #GivingTuesday event which is a global day dedicated to giving back. What is #GivingTuesday? We have a day for giving thanks. Parenting :: Ideas for Volunteer Projects
Photo credit: Beatta Bosworth of B-n-B Photography Volunteering is a great way to get tweens and teens thinking about what they can do to make the world a better place. I like to organize events that my daughter can be involved in where we focus on helping out a local charity or organization we support. Last year, we were part of the #GivingTuesday event and we were able to fill 25 Project Night Night Bags that went to a local women and children’s shelter. But deciding on which organization or project to work on can be daunting. There are so many great ways to support your community and The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards , a national recognition…

Musings :: The Importance of Doing
The Mom It Forward crew asked their mom blogger community a few weeks ago to participate in the United Nations Federation and 92Y #GivingTuesday event that happens once a year on December 3rd. The premise is to give back to your community in whatever capacity you can. This falls in-line with the concept behind our dandelion moms Project Kindness so we were happy to participate. I wasn’t able to organize our event on December 3rd but we scheduled it for the following Tuesday, December 10th. I figured any time is a good time to give back. And hey, there are five Tuesdays in December so there is till time to be involved…

Dandelion Moms Project Kindness Joins #Giving Tuesday in December
I first heard about #Giving Tuesday from the crew over at Mom It Forward. #GivingTuesday is a day for giving thanks. On Tuesday December 3, 2013, global charities, families, businesses, community centers, students and more will come together to create #GivingTuesday. It’s a simple idea. Just find a way for your family, your community, your company or your organization to come together to give something more. Then tell everyone you can about how you are giving. Be a part of a national celebration of our great tradition of generosity. There are 5 Giving Tuesdays this month so join in and help out where needed in your community. Join us…

Dandelion Moms Project Kindness :: August
Dandelion Moms Project Kindness: The idea to start the dandelion moms project kindness came about after watching some of Amy Krouse Rosenthal’s videos entitled the Beckoning of Lovely Project and seeing the great things that were being done during the Random Acts of Kindness week. I wanted to create a community of women and men who wanted to send out some seeds of kindness into the world by doing some easy acts of kindness. Each month we spotlight an organization or person who is helping to make the world a better place to see how we might be able to help out. Project Night Night: This month…

Community :: How We Can Help the Families in Oklahoma
It is so upsetting to watch the news and see the damage Monday’s tornado left behind in the community of Moore, Oklahoma. The Associated Press is reporting that 51 people – including at least 20 children – lost their lives yesterday. As parents, keeping our children safe is one of our major concerns and it is events like the Newton shootings and natural disasters that makes us feel one so vulnerable to forces out of our control. This morning I had several conversations (with myself) about whether or not I should take my six year old out of school today and go do something fun together. I just wanted to hold her tight all day long. Our time with our…
