St. Patrick’s Day is right up there as one my favorite holidays! It is just a fun day to celebrate all things Irish and green and since I am mostly Irish and green is my favorite color… you can see where this is going! I absolutely love corned beef and cabbage but no one else in the family will eat it if I make it so this year I am on the hunt for something they might eat. Cooking With Raddish
My kids like cooking. I often attempt to find jobs for them to pitch in with meal preparation, but I find myself in a rush to get the dinners made and forget to include them in the tasks that are suitable for them. I do try to find snacks or meals that they can play a role in, but searching for kid-friendly recipes that really give them the chance to get their hands in there can be time consuming. I was super excited when I stopped at the Raddish booth at the CHEA Homeschool Convention this past April. It was just what I had been looking for. I was…

Play :: Time to Embrace Your Inner Rock Star
As the school year draws to a close, school plays and spring musicals are just around the corner. Whether you were Sandy in your high school’s adaptation of Grease or have two left feet and sing off-key (we’re not judging!), Netflix has has some titles that will get you and your kids singing along to some popular show tunes. My husband and I joke around and sing songs all the time from Grease – especially that scene in the garage where the high schoolers are…

Recipes :: 5 Easy Summer Treats
Nothing says summer quite like eating fresh watermelon at the pool or beach. As kids, my younger brother and I would sit outside our front porch and go through a whole watermelon between the two of us! I can’t seem to get enough of it this summer and recently learned that it has moved up to the front line in recent research studies on high-lycopene foods. You have probably heard about Lycopene as it is a carotenoid phytonutrient important for cardiovascular health. This week I found some healthy fruit treats that you can feel good about serving to your kids and not have to worry about grumpy sugar crashes. You can even get the kids involved to…

Banana Pumpkin Spelt Bread
Banana Pumpkin Spelt Bread I frequently make banana bread for my family because I feel better giving this as a snack to my children rather than a packaged granola bar or other processed food. The problem is our household of five consumes so many bananas that few ever make it to that over-ripe stage necessary for great banana bread. I have since learned to buy extra bananas at the store. I then hide three of them from my little monkeys and their monkey daddy so they may achieve their spotty brown stage for this scrumptious quick bread. Many banana and pumpkin breads call for large amounts of oil…

Comfort Food: One Pot Sausage Casserole
Sometimes we all need comfort food. Hearty, warm and satisfying, it’s easy to make and easy to eat. When the nights get cold and it’s dark outside I love to make this one pot sausage casserole. 1 onion diced 2 cloves garlic finely diced 200g bacon 8 sausages ¼ cup white wine 1 celery stick 1 carrot 1 cup mushrooms 1 punnet cherry tomatoes 1 can diced tomatoes Fry onions and garlic in olive oil. Add diced bacon and sausages and fry gently until cooked through. Add the white wine and stir. Slice carrot, celery, and mushrooms and add to the pan. Add cherry tomatoes, canned tomatoes…
