Thanksgiving Books and Recipes to Share with the Kids

    November 15, 2017 /

Image courtesy of Old Design Shop   It’s almost Thanksgiving! Tis the season to be thankful! It’s always time to be thankful, of course, but I love this time of year because many people take the time to remind themselves and share with others what they are thankful for. This is a time to reconnect with my kids and discuss what we have to be thankful for. Instead of having a sit-down conversation, we share our thoughts while we’re in the kitchen baking and trying new recipes. And we read stories together. Stories that teach us about the challenges of others, the struggles of the past, and joy and…

    Breaking Bread with Brooke Burke

    November 26, 2015 /

With the holidays upon us hosting or attending family dinners can be so much fun or chaotic or a little of both don’t you think?  One of my favorite memories is the year my mother thought it would be fun to have a food fight on Thanksgiving.  Yes, we were all sitting around the table enjoying our turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole (well, at the time my mom was the only one who liked that dish), and dinner rolls when my mom picked up a handful of mashed potatoes and threw them at my dad, laughing the whole time.  After a few moments of complete shock…

Dwell :: DIY Decor Ideas for Thanksgiving

    November 5, 2013 /

Thanksgiving is going to be here before you know it!  It seems like every year my daughter and I have so much fun decorating for Halloween and Christmas that Thanksgiving doesn’t get its due course.  It is such a wonderful holiday because it is all about being with friends and family, eating to your hearts content and giving thanks for all that you have in your life.  I spent too much time this morning checking out all the wonderful ideas on Pinterest (funny how that happens) and found some really great ideas that you can incorporate into your Thanksgiving holiday.  Anything from how to decorate the table, DIY centerpieces, an adorable…

    Caramel Apple Salad

    November 17, 2012 /

Fall is the perfect time for apples. Crisp red or green; I love them all. And I can’t think of anything better to go with apples than caramel. Dreamy caramel. Add a few snickers, and some vanilla pudding and viola; a dessert (or salad) that will compliment any gathering. Ingredients: 6 Snickers Candy Bars (regular size) 6 apples (any kind of apple that you love) 1 package Vanilla Instant Pudding (5 oz.) 1/2 cup milk 1 tub cool whip (12 oz.) 1/2 cup caramel topping (I make my own, but you can buy ice cream topping if you want) Instructions: Whisk vanilla pudding packet and 1/2 cup milk together. And…
